Works great
I got this as a DIY game show for a learning game. Using this, along with Joytokey software, I was able to assign the button presses to keyboard strokes. The USB adapter works great, and the buttons have great feel. Can't comment on the joystick portion, because we only used the buttons.

Messed up encoder board
Got this as I wanted to replace the innards of an old Wii fight stick to use on PC. Wiring was straight forward no problems there but when it came to testing the buttons were mapped to keyboard functions! Button3 was 3 and tab, 4 was backspace, 5 opened up the onscreen keyboard! What a mess. Couldn't get any help with any documentation either.Best thing I can say about this product is you can re-use the parts.

Setup was easy, though it was hard to get the crimp connectors to seat properly.
Setup was easy, though it was hard to get the crimp connectors over some of the joystick leads. The wires are very short so plan your layout carefully. After all was connected I plugged in to a windows 8 computer which instantly recognized it as a generic usb Gamepad.I've finally built a proper case for these and am very happy with how everything works the buttons are responsive and the joystick works well. I've used this on my PC as well as a RaspberryPi 2 running Jessie. Both environments just work, no special software needed or anything like that. One last positive note: the USB cord is a decent length (~6ft.).

Great DIY starter kit!
Great kit for the price. Quality is OK, but you'll spend a lot more money for something better. Totally recommend for a starter DIY kit!

A decent kit for the price
Setup was pretty simple. The cables were just long enough, even though I used a wider layout than standard. The buttons are responsive. I did find the joystick to be a bit clicky, but it works well enough. If you're using a material thicker than 1/4 inch, you may want to either recess the back where the joystick is mounted or buy a joystick extender. -1 star for lack of mounting hardware.
