There are cogent points throughout, a few funny tidbits, life lessons, what to be, how to be, etc., and what to expect after this lifetime. The reason I gave it a 3-star rating is that there is a large smattering of left-leaning, subtle and not-so-subtle political statements throughout which I felt didn't enhance the purpose of the book, were basically unnecessary, and serve to deplete its enjoyment for the reader. I was planning on purchasing his other two books, but have to rethink that decision. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Much enjoyed but the politics (I hate politics) tripped me up. *by J***L on Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2020* As synchronicity would have it I was quite content with life (or so I thought) when I picked this book up, just wanting to know more about old souls. I later had some stress in my work life while reading this book that reminded me I have some yearning to have questions answered about my place in life now and wether it is what I am supposed to be doing as I just keep coming upon the same stressors...You know what they say about the definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different outcome. Well, right now my work life feels like that but I don’t know how to get out of the cycle.So inspired by this book I have done some more Brian Wiess past life meditations and other meditations trying to meet my spirit guide and have answers. I believe I am making some headway, getting some understanding.The only thing I did not care for was the categorizing old souls into certain politics. Politics in general to me are for the kindergarteners of this world. Both sides just don’t get it in my humble opinion. But by the same token there are good ol’ souls with good intensions on both sides. But of course with all the bickering and mudslinging nothing good will come of it and I have no use for it in this lifetime as it triggers my anger issues at both (of the major) sides.For me I think I’m a really old soul that is a slow learner...Haha!!! Either that or a very spiritual-intuitive, middle-aged-soul that just feels a lot of apathy of some segments of humanity due to all the teenaged-like behavior surrounding it. All in all though I do feel there is a lot of wisdom to be had here. ### ⭐⭐ The Usual "One Size Fits All" Monotheistic-style Narrative *by E***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2021* Let me jump to the end: the author thinks there are only two planes of existence after our physical life (the Astral and the Causal planes) and that we're all going to eventually merge back into the Causal collective like good little soul-drones returning to their Borg cube. In other words, this is the same watered-down Monotheistic-influenced theology you'll find in so many popular spiritual books.The author is VERY disrespectful towards Tribal societies. He claims these are populated by young souls and "of course" we "advance" out of them as our soul gets older. Wake up and smell the 19th century colonialist mentality much? Me, I'll continue to give money to Survival International and support the rights of Indigenous peoples.Yes, I do believe in reincarnation and remember some snatches of past lives. I found that the author's simplistic "I have all the answers" narrative rang very hollow. In fact, too many of the "redemption stories" sounded suspiciously like him extolling services he provides which are sold separately.Oh, other reviews mentioned the politics. I am left of center... very left of center, some might say... and still thought the politics were overdone.Two stars because the "ten soul types" was an interesting idea and the ten challenges made some sense. Still, that's typical of this book. Reduce everything down to a tidy list. Ten of this, ten of that, and only two planes to go to afterwards... versus others' experiences with the Other World(s) which show us infinite possibilities and dimensions. Ten levels of incarnation too in this book and you "can't" come back as an animal once you've been human. Sorry, no, don't buy that our species is that much the epitome of everything, thank you. Plenty of other species on this planet have sentience, culture, etc.Finally... I almost forgot to mention the whole "soul-mate" thing. It's a substantial part of the book. He assumes your soul-mate(s) *must* be romantic in nature and *must* be incarnate as human, at least briefly. Another example of the "One Size Fits All" narrative.
