Scientifically formulated for recovery
Product is great. Eliminates the feeling of being drained the next day after a hard workout. You will still feel some soreness depending on how hard you worked (if you worked out pretty hard) and what part you worked but overall you will feel better than if you didn't take anything at all. Product tastes, smells, and looks like powdered milk. Very sweet so I suggest you water it down if you don't like very sweet drinks. Not thick and chunky like how it looks like it will do, but remember to add the recovery drink to the shaker AFTER the fluids. If you do the opposite, it will get clunked and stuck at the bottom as it did for me and good luck getting that out without washing the whole thing. Tastes fine to me, I drank a little powdered milk growing up so I don't mind the taste.Compared to what others are charging for a 30 day supply recovery drink I'd say this ones well worth it. This is a recovery drink without all the bells and whistles and fillers that others are marketing out there. If you end up liking this product I would also suggest buying the 8 pound size from the Mike's Mix web site. You pay more up front but if you do the math you will end up paying around $26 bucks for a 30 day supply.I would also like to mention that unlike most other recovery drinks, Mike's Mix has 20grams of protein per serving (3 scoops). So if you are one of those who sandwich their workouts with protein then this can actually save you money. You wouldn't need to add protein to this for post workout, drinking this alone post workout would suffice (unless you want more than 20 grams).

Great product, great deal
First and foremost, it works.I've been using this for about a week now, and have already ordered more to make sure we don't run out. My wife and I have both started working out regularly and now using Mike's afterward, I feel great the next day. This will definitly be a post-workout routine.Cost-wise it is certainly more affordable that competing products, another plus.I also love that it has a very short list of ingredients (four, if I recall), and they are all things I can wrap my head around. Ever read what's in some other stuff? Yeah I don't know what all that is... this is simple, effective; I like not drinking a bunch of things I don't need.It mixes OK in water shaking/stirring, but I prefer to use a 'bullet' type mixer. It's the right size and you get a somewhat foamy, well mixed drink that I much prefer. ***BONUS!*** If you want to make a great-tasting post workout reward, put in slightly less water and add a 1/4 cup or so of orange juice into the mixer and whip it up. This is just awesome... plain it is OK, but with just a bit of juice I really enjoy and look forward to it. This will add a few calories, but is by far my favorite way to drink it!

not what I expected
It's got 18 servings in it and tastes like vanilla coffee creamer with most of the emphasis on creamer. It's also gritty even when mixed with a blender. The directions call for 3 heaping scoops of this product per serving. It winds up costing more than the P90X brand (which is why I tried it in the 1st place) by several cents per serving. It does do a good job of refueling your muscles after a work-out but I expected it to cost less, not more.

Tastes like Ensure BLECH!
Like many of the previous reviews, I finished the p90x recovery formula and was looking for a cheaper substitute. While it is more affordable the taste is gross. It is extremely sweet and tastes like my grandma's Ensure (I was curious and tried it). I usually have to hold my breath or breathe through my nose as a chug it as fast as I can then quickly chase it with something else. Unfortunately I have about 3 pounds left and my stinginess is preventing me from throwing it away and ordering something else.

Great drink, taste may not be for everyone.
My wife and I have been doing P90X for over a week now we were looking for alternatives to the P90X brand recovery drink and vitamin supplements. Let me tell you, P90X will kick your butt! I saw some great reviews for Mike's Mix and decided to give it a try.Effectiveness: This stuff works REALLY well. Hard workout routines after long periods of inactivity normally knock me out for three or four days. So I figured I would be really hurting after the first routine. I worked out to failure, but to my surprise I was only marginally sore the next day. Mike's has been keeping me going for the last week. I swear I can feel its effects only a few minutes after drinking it.Taste: Personally, I found Mike's Mix to have a little bit of an odd malty flavor, but satisfying enough. For me it's great, but my wife has absolutely no stomach for it. Actually, just the smell makes her nauseous. Thus, I'm taking off a star.So if you're reading this and thinking you might not like the taste, there's hope! This review is for the ORIGINAL flavor. After realizing that my wife couldn't handle the original flavor I decided to get the chocolate instead. The chocolate is just great! It's almost like Swiss Miss hot chocolate! All in all, Mike's is a great product at a great price. From a value standpoint it kicks the pants off the P90X stuff. Thanks Mike!
