Perfect! I bought for my rear view mirror camera combo. Works perfect for direct wire instead of lighter plug.

I purchased this to allow me to install my Rexing V1 dash cam on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. The item is small and the leads are graciously long. I was able to quickly install it. It was easy to wrap it up along with the extra cable length of my factory installed Aux switches. I wired it to the extra ignition power cable of the Aux bundle so it would activate my dash cam when I started the engine. It would shut off when I turned off my engine. I was very pleased with the end result. One very important note: make sure you have an excellent grounding location. If the input voltage drops and the output voltage is zero when it is supposed to be working, that could indicate that you don't have a good grounding location. This isn't a problem with this device; only with the installation. This happened to me and was quickly resolved.

Exactly as advertised. I have a circuit board that runs at 5v (an Arduino... more specifically an ESP32) that drives a string of individually addressable lights that are 12v. I power the 12v lights directly off the power supply and step down the 12v to 5v with this device to drive the circuit board. Works awsome.

I bought this a few months ago and was just able to incorporate it into my power supply project which is to power my Pi 3 from a 12-v battery (maintained by a Deltan battery tender). The description states a power output of 5-volts at 3-amps; however, when connected to the Pi 3 the display indicates insufficient power (lightning bolt on screen). The wall adapter for the Pi 3 is rated at 2.5-amps. The Raspberry Pi provided supply is 2.5-amps so I don't understand why this 3-amp rated supply is deemed insufficient by the Pi 3. UPDATE: After further investigation, it seems the issue was the size wire in the micro-USB cable I was using. It did not have the capacity for a 2.5 amp load. However, I don't have the means to measure the output of the device.

I needed this for a fan I'm adding for a fridge in our van, to move away excess heat. The existing system is 12 volt, and the new fan is 5 volts. Oops. This is perfect for giving me the voltage I needed without having to deal with a bunch of other stuff. Just add it inline and go. After seeing some of the reviews on other items, I figured I should text the output voltage before hooking it up. 5.07 volts when attached to my 12 volt power supply. That's well within tolerance. 👍

Worked great to convert the 12v harness from my stock mirror to the 5v requirement of my Urvolax mirror and camera system.
