They do kind of write up a little bit but they are comfortable. I would say 5'3 female 130 lbs the size medium is a little snug but a large would be too large. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for backpacking! *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2022* This (peat) is my third pair of these shorts (and I just ordered another in the deep sea color). I’ve had the black and charcoal for almost 2 years and they are extremely comfortable and have held up well (I wash all my performance wool with wool wash and line dry, but only after several uses). I ordered the green and blue to have additional colors as my charcoal and black ones have minimal evidence of wear. I’ve taken Woolly yoga shorts on several multi-day backpacking trips and they are phenomenal!!! I only bring 2 pair (1 for hiking and 1 for camp). I wear the “hiking” ones under Barely Baggies (nylon shorts w/ water resistant coating) w/o any additional underwear and they are still comfortable and do not stink by the end of the trip (especially compared to synthetic compression shorts even if wearing a fresh pair each day). I’ve tried several other brands of wool boy shorts and underwear and these are by far the most versatile. While not compression style, they feel supportive while hiking. Unlike boy shorts, they are also thick enough to wear solo around camp, which is incredibly convenient if it’s hot and fantastic when it’s cold because I can wear them under warm sleeping pants while we pack up our tent and eat breakfast and then swap into Baggies (yes, I hike in shorts unless it’s below freezing) when we start moving w/o feeling overly exposed. These shorts are also great for just lounging or sleeping. The midweight fabric is thick enough to wear alone. The inseam is about two inches.
