Size/Capacity & Locking lid with Drain Holes
I have two of these that I have dedicated for boiling green peanuts. With two cooking simultaneously on my kitchen stove, They yield 1/4 bushel of peanuts. The size/capacity being 8 Qt with their locking lid and drain holes make it so EASY to drain the peanuts into the sink without a mess. For my application needs these 2 pots are PERFECT ! I measure EVERYTHING from the amount of water and salt (to prevent adding more later) to the clocked cook time. with periodic stirring.... Thus my Country Caviar (boiled peanuts) come out PERFECT every time. I have custom made bags with my personalized logo and business cards made but I don't sell them (altho I easily could on a small scale) I enjoy cooking and gifting to my very close friends and in their bags, they look good and I'm proud to give them out. As for the pots, they're made by Farberware and are of good solid construction and will last me a long time.

Very good quality shiny stainless steel reasonably priced.
Good old fashion Faberware stainless steel. Shiny inside and out. Not brushed, easier cleaning. Great pans for the money. I have other very expensive pans I use sometimes and I'm not sure why I bought them since I feel for 4x the cost they really aren't much better. I can remember these in my mother's kitchen back in the 1960s. I bought a 6qt and 8qt for my daughter this Christmas and they look the exact same. We got a set of these when married in 1980. They have gotten a little tired and harder to clean but after 45 years I guess we could expect it. Time for some new Faberware pots. and pans.

Decent pan.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Nice sturdy pan. I love how it latches and hooks onto the lid so you can pour out water when making pasta. I dislike doing reviews, not much to say about this, other than if you want a decent pasta pot, this one is for you Cooking capacity: I can makeat least 3 packages of pasta at a time with this pan and a boatload of sauce if I need to .

LOVE this stock pot, one of my best purchases ever!
I wish I had found this stock pot years ago! It is a great size and it fits in the dishwasher. I love to cook, but don't like clean up. I measuared my dishwasher and found that this pot would fit. I've always liked Farberware stainless steel and this pot holds a lot of food and has held up very well. It is great to boil things in. Also great for soups, I can just put it on a low temerature on the stove burner and simmer it and then put in the dishwasher, much easier to clean up than a crock pot. I highly recommend this pot.

Pros and Cons BUT..For The Price It's My Choice
Unless you're willing to pay well over $100, I think this is the best pot I can buy. I'm replacing an old Revere Ware stock pot. I know it's well over 20 years old because I bought it from an elderly lady 17 years ago at a yard sale. There are absolutely no spots or pitting in the bottom of it and that's one of the qualities i was looking for in a new pot. The first pot I purchased, I sent back asap after one test. I brought water to a boil and added salt. Boiled another 20 minutes and then emptied the pot. Spots that look like the beginning of pitting all over the bottom. I couldned get the spots out. Read in one review about needing a pot that was at least 18/10 stainless steel to avoid that issue. Thus...I decided to try this Farberware. I took it out of the box and immediately tried bringing water to a boil, adding salt, and boiling another 20 mins. After pouring the water out of the Farberware, I did see some minor small spots but they rubbed out with a cloth dipped in vinegar. I'm keeping this pot. Farberware has been around a long time. I trust the quality and think I can keep it looking nice for years to come. I will not one caution. The instructions warn that if you let the pot boil dry, the encapsulated bottom that has an aluminum core can get too hot, come lose from the pot and leak molten aluminum. They say don't touch it. Turn the burner off and let it cool before throwing the pan away. So...really have to make sure this pot doesn't cook dry. I'll be sure to always use my stove timer so I don't forget this pot for too long.

There is no Better
Faberware is unsurpassed for its classic design, lightness, and heat conduction. Easy to clean. I grew up with it, and have found no better pots and pans.

Great tool for your kitchen
I love this pan. I have a large family, and making pasta requires, well, a lot of pasta. Straining sometimes was hard, as my large strainer had some large holes. Thinner noodles like angel hair would often fall through. Other strainers with smaller holes were smaller in overall size. Thus, I came upon this product. It easily holds enough water to boil two pounds of pasta, or five pounds of potatoes. And the locking, strainer lid, has two different sized holes on either side, so you can use the best strainer for whatever food you are cooking. It heats up quickly, it drains easily, it cleans easily. Made of stainless steel, you will not find rust, and it is sturdy. Five pounds of potatoes. Mac and cheese for the hole family, with bechamel sauce, but still cleans up quickly and easily. Just make sure the locking lid is, in fact, locked. It can, infrequently, shift enough to unlock, and if it does, well... This pan does its intended job and it does it well, everytime, as long as you are careful to use it properly. Highly recommended

Nice size pot
Nice size pot, so far so good on the cooking end. Very hard to find the pots with holes in lid. I will use more when I retire my old one.

Really nice pot. Good size
Really nice pot. Good size. The locking mechanism is very secure. So nice that it does not have a (bad-for-you) non-stick surface.

I like that it's stainless steel
I like that it's stainless steel, I like that it's non-stick, but I find the locking mechanism a bit of a hassle - have to line it up just right and wrestle with it a few seconds to get it in. Not a huge deal, but I find my old t-fal one (which I can't find any more of) easier to use.
