Hard plastic from the waist up. Rubbery the waist down. My daughter said that they are durable. Make sure that you check that out. This Mega Mall is considered the "Micro" scale and the dolls are about an inch tall. I was about to purchase the set of dolls that have all of the different outfits and accessories that can be interchanged. Those are about 5x the size of this set. That said, the Mall is really cute. It comes fully assembled with the exception of snapping on the slide and sticking some stickers on. My only gripe is some of the accessories are just WAY TOO SMALL. Like I felt bad handing them to my 6 year old, because there was a 0% chance that she would make it a full 24 hours without losing them and being really mad at herself.
