Expert Author: Christopher Hart has written over 100 how-to-draw books that have sold over 8 million copies worldwide Author Christopher Hart makes it so simple to learn how to draw fun and funny cartoon characters and animals with his easy-to-follow templates. Start with learning how to draw cartoon faces that will make you smile (and maybe laugh!), then move on to putting those faces on bodies, mastering the art of exaggeration, with characters that are string bean thin or squat like fireplugs. Step by step Chris Hart will show you how to draw more than 50 different cartoon characters, as well 22 crazy cute cartoon animals, including pooches, wombats, armadillos, hedgehogs, and more. Learn How to Draw Cartoons will have you creating your own original cartoon characters in no time! Review: Painless, fun learning - First of all I should mention that I'm not a beginner. I've been a freelance artist/illustrator and editoral cartoonist for decades. So why do I have this book on my shelves? Because making art is like playing a piano; you need to practice every day. Sometimes I get tired of hauling practice subjects out of my own head, and that's when I reach for one of Christopher Hart's books. Doing two or three of the practice exercises following his instructions, and then repeating them using my own skills is just the thing to keep my hand and eye sharp and my imagination loose. That said, I can wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone who is beginning to draw cartoons, or who is interested in sharpening skills and learning good stuff about cartooning. The characters are appealing, the technique is very good for those wanting to get their brain in gear for cartooning, and the number of tips in this book is astonishing. I wish I'd had it when I was starting out, because many of the technical points Mr. Hart shares are things that took me a long time to figure out for myself (no, I didn't go to art school). The book contains not only cartoon figures, but some "normal" human bodies, and there are wonderful tips on proportions and making a figure look natural. Helpful tips and hints are included alongside all the drawings, often at every stage of the art, so it's a good idea to work through this slowly and absorb all the information, if you're a beginner. I also enjoyed the hints on drawing cartoon animals; the examples are simple and yet very funny and each one conveys character. All in all, a good book for anyone wanting to learn cartooning skills or sharpen their techniques. Review: Great guide book - Great introduction to cartooning. Author is patient and easy to follow. I have several of his books

Patience!
This book is clear, concise and offers a great deal to learn from. That said, your patience will be required. Learning Cartooning (or any skill) takes practice and time. Follow instructions and you will gain a great deal but don't expect to open the book and begin making perfect cartoons, Be good to yourself! Practice! A good book!
