My fish loved a teeny star shaped cheap air stone I had gotten from the pet store, but while cleaning the tank I broke it into several pieces. It was really cheap and poorly made. So I thought, she would probably love this larger one. I found out that the bubbles are not as teeny as the cheap one. They are a bit bigger. She is ok with this one, but she completely loved the other one. She would swim thru it over and over to have it push her up like it was some weird fish rollercoaster ride. These bubbles are maybe a small pea size while the other one put out teeny bubbles like in a soda. Other than my not pleasing the diva, this is a great product. Seems to be well made. Good size for a 10 gallon tank. We have an adjuster on the tube to put more bubbles out or less. She seems to like medium as the low was way too boring and all the way on was just a fish being tossed around in the rapids, she avoided it at that speed. It is on the side of the tank under/near the long plants, she hated bubbles in the center of the tank. I had a very depressed fish for that week.

crap, just fell right out of the plastic thing and could not get it back in. too fragile for transport. i bought a different brand and totally different story, i just wanted to know if i could get away with it since it was a low price, nope. i ended up getting Active Aqua AS4RD Round Air Stone, 4 Inch, it wasn't half bad for a while, but eventually did not work either. but thats cuz i was rough with it. the green deluxe is not even worth a try. in my opinion. just writing this in case anyone wants to truth about a personal experience. maybe i just had bad luck. while i pulled it out of the box after it arrived, suddenly the stone just fell out. i could see where it cracked out and there was no putting it back together.

Beautiful spread of bubbles and very easy to install but it doesn't like to lay flat unless covered.

Bubbles only come out of one small portion of the circle (black plastic part) and not through the green portion of the "stone". I'm not sure why the green pad is needed if no bubbles diffuse through it. Must have gotten a defective one. I have it hanging in my tank on its side - not flat and buried....

I am using this for DWC. It produces perhaps as much as 4 times a normal stone. My plants do not seem to like the new stone as much, perhaps it makes to many bubbles.After using this for a while I have found it doesn't have enough of a nipple to grab the air hose and winds up coming off. The extra bubbles seem to cause nutrient drop out at a much faster rate than normal. I have found that for all the extra bubbles it also causes the PH to climb upwards very fast as much as .5 each day. A call to the manufacture of the nutrients I use confirmed my worries.

I bought these and the 3" version. Man are they great! Word of caution to anyone buying these though, they are for a large amount of bubbles. That being said I bought the largest aquarium pump, a Fusion Air Pump 700. It is rated for a 110 gallons. This airstone can easily handle more than one of these. Not sure what they are supposed to be paired with but I figured I would just give anyone looking to buy this a heads up. Other than that I love it! Same problem as one of the other reviewers. Bubbles only come out of a very small portion between the green air stone and the black case. If I cover those bubbles with my finger, they just come out of the ring a little more around the edge. Bubbles do not come out of the green air stone at all. I have a very strong air pump. Went to my local fish store and bought a similar product and it works perfectly. Maybe I just got a defective one.
