The flavor combinations are awesome, especially if you like spicy blends
Moroccan food can be very addictive once you have tried it. The flavor combinations are awesome, especially if you like spicy blends. This is a great cookbook which allows you to cook this style of food at home.

Recipes from Morocco
A colorful cookbook, with good basic information about Moroccan food. Disappointing that there is little discussion about the tagine and few recipes devoted to this cooking method.

Good basic recipes and GREAT cultural information on Moroccan cooking.
Well, the recipes are solid, but what grabbed me was the wonderful cultural information including gender cooking traditions. Nice photos

Emphasis on Islamic Culture and Food
I've put up some of the recipe pages as the preview Amazon offers shows none. It omits the all important page that tells you that this book is "emphasizing" the food & culture of Islamic Morocco, hence no tangines -- which though named for the for the two-piece earthenware pot that the "stew" is cooked in was an introduction by the French and Italian population to Northern Africa. The recipes are very simple, so you if you cannot cook, despite the review below, this is a perfect way to start learning to assemble ingredients to make a good tasting dish. So if someone is interested in Morocco post 1962 (the Islamic handoff from the French), Islamic cuisine, then this is a good introduction. If you are looking for more historical & hence elaborate Moroccan dishes, this book would not be your best bet.

good seller - book was not so helpful with cooking
There are lots of pictures but not a lot of detail to execute the recipes. I don't need pictures, I need to learn to cook.Seller was good - shipping was on time.

Essentially the same as "the food of morocco"
If you like periplus cookbooks and already own "the food of" version of this book, then reconsider buying this one. The new "authentic recipes from" series is just a rehash of the "food of series" with a few subtle changes such as relacing obscure recipes with more recognisable ones, bigger font and format, less on the history and some updated pictures.Overall I kind of like the recipes in the new books more as there is less filler and odd recipes, but I do like the layout and format of the older hardcover "food of" books. So if you own "the food of" and want to get this book, be prepared to sell it off as you will only end up doubling up 90% of recipes between the 2.

Yummy Cookbook
This is a good book to buy if you want to cook Moroccan food. Great recipes which are not at all difficult to prepare. Not a cheap book, but I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try something spicy and different. Entertain in style with food which is really very special.
