42" Hi-Speed 22 cu.ft. Sweeper

I bought this even after reading all the bad reviews, knowing my yard is not perfectly level i hooked it to the mower and went all the way around my yard with it and learned where the unlevel passes are and took 10 seconds and unhooked sweeper and used the mower to blow the stuff into the level passes (the clean ones) and took 10 seconds and hooked up the sweeper and went to those areas and swept it up no problem my yard is clean. you have to learn your yard, use the adjustment height setting, if the wheels are sliding reset it. if you have to use the mower to blow everything to the best area of your yard then sweep it up i have an unlevel yard with 21 pine trees and 6 other tress and don't rake anywhere. the condition of your yard is not the sweepers fault learn your yard when and where to use it. 100% results 1st time out not going happen, trial and error will get you great results with it. i love this thing i do all my fall clean up sitting on my mower

I purchased this sweeper to collect the grass clippings after mowing my lawn. The shipment arrived timely. As other reviews have reported, the packaging is less than satisfactory; although no parts were missing. The package is heavy. I suggest viewing the assembly video on the Craftsman website immediately prior to attempting to assemble the sweeper. Assembly required an hour and fifty minutes. The instructions are adequate. It would have been very helpful if I had someone read the instructions as I assembled the sweeper. All parts appear to be stout, not flimsy at all. The catcher portion is made in China. The sweeper works as intended and as advertised. Be aware that green grass clippings are much heavier than dead leaves. The sweeper will pick up more grass clippings than can be emptied by pulling on the rope. I had to dismount the mower to raise the catcher to empty the grass clippings. I should have emptied the catcher when the catcher was about one-fourth filled with green grass clippings. The half-filled catcher was almost too heavy to raise in order to empty. Apparently, the sweeper is designed primarily for collecting dried leaves. Freshly mowed grass clippings should be emptied more often. The sweeper did leave my lawn looking like a golf green. The sweeper is bulky and requires space for storage. Although the video shows the sweeper collapsing, even collapsed, the sweeper takes up a lot of space. The wheeled-brush portion of the sweeper is heavy. If the brushes are not raised and touch the ground, it is difficult to roll the sweeper forwards. The sweeper will roll backwards easily. After using the sweeper twice on my lawn, I am pleased with its function. I will not leave rows of grass clippings or need to rake rows of grass clippings in the future. I am please with this purchase.

It came all dumped in a box but didn't find anything broken or tore up. Instructions could be a lot better, someone who is not good at assembly could expect to have some problems. Setting the brush height takes a few tries but once set the job it does is great. I had a large amount of leaves and it cleaned them up picking up 99% of them. I pulled with my lawn tractor and wasn't a problem.

TOP LINE: In my opinion, this Craftsman Lawn Sweeper is UNACCEPTABLE because of defective parts and impossible customer service. 1. Both hitch tubes were supposed to be marked "L" and "R". They were not marked and difficult to determine which tube was left and which was right. The manual is unacceptable because of poor-quality illustrations and substandard explanations. 2. One hitch tube was missing both holes for the bolts that attach the tube to the main chassis. Fortunately, I have the equipment to drill the correct holes ... Unfortunately, most people will not. VERY POOR product quality! 3. I tried to contact Craftsman to obtain the correct hitch tube, but it was frustratingly impossible. I was referred to a non-existent "chat." After close to an hour, I gave up. If I didn't need a lawn sweeper, I would return the whole mess to Amazon and try another brand. Instead, I'll fix Craftsman's mistakes and keep it. Sad state of affairs! Ps: About 10 years ago, I bought this same sweeper and had similar issues: Missing parts!

I’ll start with: the lawn sweeper works well (now that it’s all together). When it arrived the box was slightly damaged, but no more then I would expect for something of this size. Opened it up and found a random 4 inch bolt lodged between parts that were already assembled. Scratched up the paint (but I figure it’s a yard tool, who cares about scratches) and I couldn’t see where that piece went. Found two sets of parts (bolts, pins, etc) which is kind of handy when things break. Took me almost 3 hours to assemble (put it together and took it apart like 3 times, but my own fault for just glancing at the pictures and not really READING the directions). Got it hooked up behind the lawn mower and almost immediately found out where that original mystery bolt belonged when one of the wheels fell off. It seemed to have come loose in shipping and the corresponding nut, washer and cap were lost in between here and there during shipping. Took a little bit of problem solving and wheel was re-attached with scavenged parts from the neighbor’s garage. But like I said, once it was completely assembled, it works well.

Shipping was fast. Once I opened the box I sorted out all the parts then made sure everything was there. I'm not sure why all the complaints about the instructions probably not reading the whole thing, I did it a few times and if I would have just read the last sentence I wouldn't have had to go back. Putting this thing together was actually easy. It has a lot of pictures also that can help.i saw people say it took 3 hours to put together there are only like 12 bolts. Took me maybe 30 minutes and I only used a pair of needle nose and a nut driver, all of my tools where at work. Works well, no issues yet. Seems sturdy.
