Starving the Anger Gremlin: A Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Workbook on Anger Management for Young People (Gremlin and Thief CBT Workbooks)

Good anger management book - used it as a parent
I read this with my 9yo. Didn't want to buy the one for little kids when my child was right in between age recommendations. These kinds of books can really add up in expense!I read it WITH him. Highly recommend that in general, but especially for kids on the younger side of things. Some of the anger-inducing examples were things like "friend stole my boyfriend" and "boyfriend cheated on me." Stuff the average 9yo doesn't really understand (mine wouldn't have, at least).I was able to ad-lib more relevant examples while reading, but if you are purchasing this for a young kid/pre-teen, and aren't so good at improvisation, I recommend pre-reading.

Fantastic!
Great....I can't say this enough this book is fantastic for adolescent struggling with anxiety. It's a great way for them, parents and therapist to meet the adolescent where they are and learn together.

A helpful tool
This book was well written and easily understandable by teens. It engages them while addressing the issues caused by anger and how to react in healthier ways. It was definitely worth purchasing.

Suprised at how good this book is.
Had no idea this book would be for the child to fill out. My son and i have been going through this today. I have to say him having a safe space to write down things that make him angry, and learn about different situations that make us all angry, along with writing down how he feels emotionally and physically when hes angry has been good so far. Havent completed it but so far its helping me learn about my sons anger and he himself is learning. Id definitely recommend it.

Kindle version is not good
The layout of pages is all over the place no matter what zoom level. To say the workbook is brief is an understatement. No new insights, old ideas named as a gremlin. Shame, I work with angry children and try a number of different strategies but can't see any extra value in this.

An absolute gem
Absolutely fantastic book. My son was a bit young and his attention wasn’t the best so we took elements of the book and worked on them. It was a life changer, he was able to understand that what he was going through wasn’t his fault and that made such a difference. I absolutely recommend this book for ALL children.

Useful tool to help children deal with anger issues
We like the style of the book, it uses quizzes to help children work out what anger 'looks like' in them e.g. heart beating faster, using swear words etc. and the short quotes by children of different ages describing their feelings make the book real and accessible. The book is practical and hands-on not stuffy and academic.
