I'm not sure what I was looking for in a book, but there isn't really an easy answer to gaining souls for Christ. (Of course.)Patrick Madrid spends probably half the book discussing what you, the Catholic reader, can do to make yourself a better example and better representative of the Church. Then he talks about techniques for engaging people in dialogue, a little bit how to answer their questions or redirect criticism of the Church. He focuses a lot on prayer and "planting the seeds", or "fertilizing the soil" to allow the Holy Spirit to do the work.He also discusses well many of the pitfalls, such as pride and false assurance, that often befall conversion efforts.One of the most valuable parts of the book, to me, seems to be the helpful footnotes and long suggested reading list full of books on various topics of use to someone who wants to share the Faith. The reading list is divided into three sections, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, in increasing order of theological complexity.View this book as more of a game plan or introduction to your efforts, rather than as a comprehensive how-to manual.

Lots of examples on what you can do to bring loved ones back to the Catholic Faith! You will get a great understanding why those closest to you might be the hardest to bring back to the Catholic FAith. Now I don't push our sons away but do the many things suggested in the book. I feel better about what I'm doing and NOT doing. I would recommend this book. It will also help you to bring people of other faiths into the Church. Actually, this book is for every Catholic! I would recommend it!

I have leant this book to 2 other ladies already. The first girl absolutely loved it and ordered it and I have yet to get it back from the second. She said it helped her with some of the issues she was having in her family. I thought the book was a real eye opener self review of our purposes and goals behind witnessing to others. It is a reminder of the importance of humility, trust, patience, prayer and above all love in every relationship.

Not a lot of meat here. It could have been said in a short article.

I really like this book. Some wonderful ideas and I have my highlighter out & marking pages.

Very helpful and practical and has many good examples. It helped me put my efforts into a realistic perspective and brought me peace when I irrationally think that I am not doing enough. May it also be a blessing to you.

This is a must have book on how to deal with family members or friends who have left the faith...Patrick Madrid gives wonderful techniques on how we can help those who have left the Faith and help to bring them back into the faith in a Loving Christ like attitude towards Jesus!

An easy read. Very practical.

Good with basic arguments but didn't tell me anything I didn't know already
