Does what it's suppose to, but I use it for something completely different
So I bought this as to extract audio from the output of Atem mini pro so I could monitor stream feed. .It has saved my life on numerous occasions since. I had to run a camera at a long distance before but hadn't sufficient cables to do a cable run from the camera so I put this in between two 20metre HDMI cables and It worked perfect. Another life saving moment was where I had to split a hdmi output from a laptop to Atem mini and to another scaler witcher for a room video mix but only had a 1x2 hdmi splitter, the hdmi splitter could not see the laptop feed, so I put the hdmi audio extractor in front of the HDMI splitter and it solved my problem. Extremly Useful Device

Stunning audio quality, very easy installation - no set-up required.
This HDMI Audio Extractor outputs VERY high quality audio! I use mine to drive Bose headphones to play high-definition FLAC audio files from my NAS network accessible servers. The quality is truly outstanding. I have also used it to feed my Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 7000 amplifier with Mission 770 loudspeakers - the sound quality is the best I have heard in a domestic environment.I use a spare Cromecast dongle to feed the HDMI extractor, and cast to it from the HiFi Cast Music Player app on an Android tablet. It has a feed-through HDMI output, so you could deliver the output to your TV. Even with the best Android (paid-for) audio equaliser it is impossible to match the quality of this HDMI audio extractor. Of course this is because the files are transmitted directly to Chromecast from the router, bypassing the tablet. It has two RCA outputs plus a mini-jack, and the volume control has a power-off position. Two LEDs indicate the HDMI input/output are connected, there is a power-on LED, and a 5 volt power supply is included.

Audio only from a Pi 400
I have a Raspberry Pi 400. This does not have a audio out jack and I have tried using a USB audio but that didn't work quite as intended (you could have music playing but had to switch back to the HDMI audio if you wanted You Tube). This was the alternative. The HDMI from the PI goes into the extractor. Another HDMI then takes the video/audio to the TV. The audio only can now be taken from either the headphone socket or via the phono from the back. It works.

High quality headphone digital audio converter.
Used to gain high quality audio to headphones from a Raspberry Pi (whose own 3.5mm audio jack output is of a much lower quality). This splits off the digital audio signal from the hdmi feed and converts it, adding a useful volume control into the bargain. The sound quality (through my Beyer Dynamic headphones) is phenomenal.

Quality device
Excellent sound, I have an Apple TV and there’s no audio out, only HDMI so put this in line and then run phono out to amplifier. Was surprised that this little device puts out such high quality sound.
