"Introduction to Academic Writing" is a nose-to-the-grindstone guide to writing academically. It gives answers to questions you never asked--and many answers to questions you really want answers to. It is not just great for academic writing, it is a fine guide to writing fiction with better style.

I bought this book because of its great reputation - to supplement the textbook I use to teach a writing class. The book itself was a great help but a previous owner had written on almost every page. Fortunately, it was in pencil, but I have spent a lot of time with an eraser!

This book is extremely well organised and focussed. In a systematic and careful way you learn how to write paragraphs in several different ways. Punctuation and grammar is gradually unveiled when appropriate. Writing an essay is introduced at the end. I am using this book with my students with great success.

The book explicitly introduces the basic concepts of adacemic writing step by step, helpful to young learners. I have old versions written by the authors but find these new version in more details.

このシリーズは、語学学校、大学等でのアカデミック・ライティングに関する講座のテキストとして多く使用されています。Level1〜4まで出版されており、そのうちの「3」なので、中〜上級レベルかと思いきや、初中級〜中級という感じです。大学2回生以上くらいからなら、このテキストを1冊目にアカデミックライティングに取り組むので丁度よいかと感じました。　内容は、論文のパラグラフ構成のハウツー、文の接続、何かを定義する文のいろは、等々です。細かいところではコンマの打ち方の規則なども詳細に書かれています。しつこいくらいに練習問題やWrithing Assignmentが載っているのもみっちりと取り組めてよいと思います。
