As a child who struggled with Dyslexia (and has now become an Educational Therapist helping others to read); spelling, and reading rules, in general, were difficult topics, despite my love of words. Eide is the only one who fully committed to breaking down the language as systematically as possible, and in it, readers will find rich appendixes and in-depth explanations. This is the first book that productively framed my learning. It is clear, logical, concivce, and well organized. But, if you feel this book is too complicated to teach your child, first, gain understanding for yourself. Then, simplify your newfound understanding with examples for your child to digest the information. Finally, remember to get your child involved in learning the material by allowing him or her to teach it back to you. Incorporate the learning on paper for practice. Have your child read articles, books, comic books, and high quality text, etc... to themselves and to an adult. Remind him or her to put what was taught into practice and give gentle reminders of understanding the English language.
