If the motor is used properly with the correct engineering analysis for power factor, true power, RPM, voltage/current, and torque parameters, it works reliably for years as it has for us. Ad-hoc use of the motor without design considerations can yield unpredictable results as noted in some of the other comments. It is not sufficient to just match the physical size of the motor to what is needed. So now my chair works like new.
