The Caterwauling Might Be The Prelude To A Hairball Launch
We had to take Gus, one of our cats, to the vet for persistent vomiting several hours after each meal. The vet examined him and the vomitus we'd saved for that purpose, and diagnosed hairballs. The vet clinic sold us the first tube of this medication and we started Gus on it right away. We tried to give the medicine orally with a syringe and got the crap scratched out of us in the process. Hint: put a dose of it on your cat's paw and let them lick it off. Gus does very well with that method and licks his paw clean in just a couple of minutes. He seems to like the catnip flavor. It took several days to clear up the hairballs and get things moving again with his digestive system. Now, we're dosing him 3 times a week with this medication and hoping we'll not wake up to any more surprise hairball deposits on the carpet. We feed both cats an expensive brand of dry cat food that is made especially for controlling hairball issues, but his penchant for grooming himself and his "brother" cat (Tommy) seemed to have outstripped the food's ability limit hairball production. So, this our second tube of Tomlyn's.

Cat is good to go with this!
This product contains mineral oil and sure makes the going great for our kitty! We use only a pea-sized amount every few days and that keeps her happy. There is a lot less vomits and whatever hairballs do form are removed in her stool. Our kitty doesn't like eating it out of our hands but will lick it off her paws just fine. Once she has a taste of it she will lick the rest off your fingers. Will be reordering.

I LOVE IT, MY CATS HATE IT. TOO BAD FOR THEM.
THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW CAT PROBLEM PRODUCTS THAT ACTUALLY WORK. I HAVE TASTED IT, THE FLAVOR CAN BEST BE DESCRIBED AS ... NOT HORRIBLE. AT LEAST TO A HUMAN. THE CATS HATE IT AND GETTING IT INTO THEM IS NEVER PLEASANT FOR ANY OF US. SOMETIMES THEY REFUSE TO EVEN LIGH IT OFF THEIR PAWS OR LIPS AND I FEEL LIKE A MONSTER SMEARING IT ONTO THEM OR INTO THE CORNER OF THEIR MOUTH, WHICH I FIND MORE EFFECTIVE.BUT THE STUFF WORKS. IF YOUR CAT IS COUGHING OR VOMITING AND THERE'S NOTHING ELSE WRONG, IT'S PROBABLY A HAIRBALL AND A DOSE OF THIS HELPS CLEAR THING UP.SO IT'S A BENEFICIAL EVIL FOR ALL OF US, LIKE EXERCISE, OR GETTING VACCINATED FOR HORRIBLE DISEASES. THE CATS FORGIVE ME AND I MAKE IT UP TO THEM WITH TREATS AND SWEET NOTHINGS.HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT FOR ALL YOUR FELINE BEZOAR NEEDS.

Seems to work. Sort of.
I think this stuff works, at least somewhat. It's definitely no miracle cure. My cat pukes up hairballs fairly often (she's a long-haired Maine Coon). Since we've been using this product, it does seem to happen slightly less often, but it hasn't completely eliminated the hairballs by any stretch. We've even been giving her this stuff every day (instead of every other day), and we've even tried giving it with every meal. Still didn't completely get rid of hairballs (we also brush her every day).As far as flavor, my cat seems to either like it or not mind it. When we first got it, I tried giving her some directly on my finger, to see if she'd eat it, and she did, a little. Since then, we just mix it into her food.I think some major improvements could be made in the packaging. Depending on the temperature of the room where this is stored, it can be very thick or very syrupy or like honey. The way the tube is designed, you end up with a mess no matter what. The major downside with this stuff (other than the fact it doesn't eliminate hairballs completely) is that it has cane molasses, corn syrup and malt syrup in it. That's a lot of unneeded sugar! That crap isn't good for humans, I'm sure it's not good for cats. Also, cats aren't attracted to sweet tastes like humans are, so there's absolutely no need for those ingredients in this product. The active ingredients are white petrolatum, soybean oil and light mineral oil. I think in the future, I'll just get those ingredients (they're all really cheap) and just use that instead, so I'm not giving my cat a bunch of corn syrup and other sugars. Those ingredients are all virtually tasteless, and since we put this in her wet food anyway, there's no need for the flavorings and sugars this product has in it.
