does this play 4k blu rays?

No, it does not. I am not sure if future firmware update alone will enable its compatibility with 4k blu rays. Maybe the hardware is not sufficient.

I just installed this and it will not play a Blue Ray? I am running windows 7. In the auto play for Blue Ray it is not showing any players to open it?

Hi Bryan, not much to go on there, so I am guessing that the software to play blue ray is not on your pc. Mine wasn't either and was not able to play till I got one. If not, try using Power DVD. This works great. http://www.cyberlink.com/store/index_en_US.html

If I just buy the driver, what software do i need to buy to play blu ray and 3D movies

Yes you need software to play blu rays i use either Nero or CyberLink

will this fit in a 5.25 bay?

It is standard, unless you have a compact case it should fit fine.
