HAPPY ENDINGS (2011) - SEASON 03

Best season so far, hoping for more
I haven't found a sitcom I've liked in years, so I'm not pleased about this one's uncertain future and am hoping that cable will save it from cancellation. I think so far it's been better every season, and I'd really like to see where the writers can take the characters if they get some more seasons to work with.I love that Happy Endings has such a stable relationship between its married couple, Brad and Jane. Too many sitcoms mine comedy from unfunny spiteful rivalries between spouses, and although Jane and Brad have their silly disagreements they always seem stronger for having settled them. Their support for one another and affection is one of the most consistent elements of the show, and again, I absolutely love them for it.If Dave and Alex's on-again off-again relationship were poorly written, it would be trying. Fortunately, their renewed connection has grown out of believable moments in which they really do seem to be meant for each other, eventually. Anyway, along with Brad they're the sweetest characters on the show and I really can't help but wish them well, no matter how stupid they can be (very stupid).[Spoilers] I'm a little sad (though not surprised) that Penny's longest relationship to date ended in failure, but the end of her engagement to Pete was dealt with in the same honest and classy manner I've come to expect from this show when it addresses important family matters. (Not from this season, but I really liked how Max's coming out was handled-- in the midst of all his friends acting like complete nutcases, revealing he was gay made him look like the only sensible person in the room.) Unfortunately, Max is typically far from the most sensible person anywhere and if I could have one wish granted for the fourth season it would be that he gets a job and a steady boyfriend, because his character needs to develop a bit or risk becoming unsympathetic IMO.The humor in Season 3 is as quick and clever as it's ever been, with only the occasional joke I consider somewhat tasteless (the allusion to smallpox blankets; the guy who picks his false arm up in the food fight a la Saving Private Ryan). But whatever, I overlooked the blatant sexism is Scrubs so I can overlook this. Reflecting on the show is only making me view it more fondly, and as a final note I'd like to praise the cast whose obvious natural chemistry is at least half of why this all works so well. Serious TV it ain't, but if you're looking for a sitcom that's high on the wackiness and surprisingly low on raunch, please try Happy Endings and give this show another well-deserved fan.

i don't buy a lot of digital content, but this series is worth it.
I really love this show. It's so quirky. There's nothing else like it on TV and I can't think of another show like it in the past. It's more like watching standup sketch comedy on stage...only this is a TV show.Every actor in this is just so unique...and they do a great job with their oddball characters. I especially like Jane and her husband Brad...they are so funny together and play off each other so well.I live in Chicago and this show is supposed to be set in Chicago, but clearly they film it all on soundstages in LA. That's okay, though. They don't really try to fake being in Chicago and don't even make references to real Chicago locations all that often. It's kind of fun to see Hollywood try to depict Chicago...instead of it trying to depict a fake version of New York (like on Friends and other shows).I find myself able to watch episodes of Happy Endings over and over again. If there's nothing else on and I want something on in the background as I'm cleaning or doing other things, I put this show on. It's so fun and the wordplay is so rapid fire and quick that I pick up jokes here and there that I might have missed on the first viewing.

Very dark in color.
No extra content what so ever. No bloopers like the other seasons, not worth purchasing. Could’ve just recorded this myself and saved 15.00 dollars. disppointing but glad I paid only 16.00 dollars and not the ridiculous 40.00 Amazon is charging for the same order on demand content. Giving it 3 starts just because it plays the episodes at least

Funny till your sides hurt
One of the funniest shows around! For those unfamiliar, if you're a fan of "It's Always Sunny..." you'll love this show. You'll laugh constantly and make you think of all the quirky things you and your friends have done just like the characters in this show.

Frustrating!
$40 for a burn-on-demand release? If the sales numbers on the first two seasons don't justify a proper release for season 3, how can they expect a $40 set to sell many copies at all? You'll get less people than ever buying this one.I was afraid they weren't going to release S3 at all, but I didn't see this wrinkle coming. I want to wait for a price reduction, but it's pretty unlikely to happen, isn't it?Five stars for the show.Edited to add that I eventually bought this, waiting patiently for it to be a bit cheaper. (Didn't last, it's back to $40 as of this writing.) And I have to be thankful that it got released at all, DVDR or not. It's not all great though, the episodes are in the messed-up airing order (like season 2 was) which is annoying, but I'm just glad to own all three seasons of my fave sitcom since Community went bust and pre-Goldbergs.

Cult classic
Cannot recommend enough. If you need a new show, choose Happy Endings (Although start with season one). Anyone I know who has seen Happy Endings instantly fell in love with it. The dialogue is quick, witty, layered, and riddled with references that I often don't understand, but when I do understand them are so rewarding. The characters all have their own unique personalities, which I think is a feature missing in some shows these days. Unfortunately, Happy Endings was cancelled due to low viewership, but those of us who knew the show will continue to let it live on through our DVD shelves and Amazon libraries.

Love this show
Love this show, but seems to waiver a little during this third and final season. It's more over-the-top this time around, which sometimes is a good thing and sometimes not-so-good. Finally gave in and bought it on streaming since there's no official release on DVD of this season, which (sadly) means no extras/bonus material. Still, a great show and I hope someone brings it back!

Love this show
Love this show and as usual ABC took a quality show and did not give it enough support or publicity. Fortunately it did get three full seasons! Season 3 only received four stars because there were four episodes that were uneven and it seemed like the writers gave up. It ended wonderfully and the final episode and the story line arc about Penny's engagement was classic television
