Son got a metal detector and likes to use this tool when enjoying what he loves. No problem using this tool. After use, keep it clean and if you like, treat it with a little lite oil to keep it shiny and easier to use. It is strong and durable and can be used on land and in the water. Makes digging, sifting much easier when metal detecting. Hope you enjoy yours as much as he has enjoyed his.

Hi Folks,I have been Metal Detecting for almost 30 years. I have owned almost every metal detector on the market accept for the $5,000 models in which I have no need for. I will not say I know it all but let me say this, In my 30 years detecting, I have purchased almost every digging product on the market looking for an easy way for my targets to be found without killing my hands digging for them. This product, The Garrett Sand Scoop, is as solid as a rock! Digging at the beach is very easy, the scoop cuts through beach sand like it is water. As for the scoop on dry land, you are better off buying something like the "Lesche Digging Tool & Sod Cutter" and then buying the "Garrett Pro-Pointer" for when the hole is dug, you can use the Garrett handheld detector to find the target without the need to keep getting up and down and using your big detector to keep going over the sand to pinpoint the target. Amazon has it all from scoops, diggers, pinpointers and metal detectors! P.S. Always remember to hose off your scoops after digging on the beach. The salt will eventually pit the aluminum. I first thought that this was an overpriced unit -- then I did research. You're paying for the quality and durability of the product. Wet sand has a tendency to destroy cheaper, weaker units. I have no doubts this product will withstand the beach for years of use.I'm very pleased with the product: shell out a little more, and buy quality.

I didn't review a bunch of items because I was busy. I could not let this item go by un reviewed. Its wonderful. Very well built and the price was the best around... love this when hunting in sand and as a step in classification

So far so good. I paired this Scoop with my Garret 250 and they are doing a great job. I haven't dipped in salt water, but I suspect keeping it dry is a must to avoid corrosion. The scoop is very solid and has a nice, large mouth that cuts through sand with ease. I may end up getting a scoop with a handle however. It gets pretty tiresome when you bend down constantly for hours at a time. If you are ready to bend down constantly, then this is the scoop for you. You may want to get a scoop with a handle and keep this as a backup, or in case you desire a larger scoop for specific trips.
