High Quality Pocket Knife
Kershaw's Cryo pocket knife is the perfect size for an everyday carry knife. I love the speed assisted opening feature. This the first pocket knife that I have owned that had assisted opening. The blade snaps out and locks safely and securely. The 2.75-inch blade is perfect for packages, rope, cord and other typical daily uses. It should serve me well. The blade is razor sharp out of the box. The grip is comfortable, and the speed assist lever serves as an extra safety feature to keep your index finger from sliding forward onto the blade. I can get all four fingers on the grip if I choose to.

Great for the money!
Great little EDC for the money. I don't know why many people compare this to a tenacious though. I feel that other than the money this knife is in a completely different size category. If anything a better comparison is the Spyderco Persistence. Not looking at price, this knife is also comparable to a delica or mini griptilian size. I have all three of these knives and I have to say this holds it's own against the delica and mini grip. Other than the blade steel, build quality is just as good as both of them. The frame lock is stout and for a knife this size if you can break the lock...you aren't using a knife for what it was designed to do. I will say that the mini griptilian axis lock is still my favorite. It's quick, super smooth, and easy to open as well as close. I would place this in second behind an axis lock, followed by a liner, and last a back lock. I have never been a fan of back locks. By design they are always a little more difficult to open due to the pressure they place on the tang. Also the location of the lock requires more fumbling motions of the hand to close it. As for ergonomics I have to say the delica comes in first. The handle is just a tad bit longer and in the hand feels so much better than a mini grip, but this doesn't fall to far behind the delica and would give the Cryo second place. As for weight, it's a "heavy" knife. I personally am not phased by weight unless I am wearing slacks. In jeans, I sometimes carry my Benchmade Adamas 275...now that is a heavy knife. In slacks this knife will weigh you down and pull your pants. If I am wearing slacks I would recommend a sub 2 ounce knife. Blade steel is your run of the mill 8CR13MOV...it's "good" Chinese steel. On a knife this size I don't see the benefit of higher quality steels to be honest. A knife this size isn't going to see heavy and hard use from me. This is a small everyday knife that I might use once in a blue moon. If I know I am going to be somewhere where I want a harder use bigger knife I will take something with better steel. 8CR13MOV will take a razor sharp edge. First thing I do with all my knives is reprofile, sharpen, and strop. It has a nice mirrored edge and will push cut paper. As soon as I start noticing the edge dulling, a quick strop gets it back to a razor edge. My only grip about this knife is that the tang on the blade is not drilled for the ball detent. What this means is that the blade will not stay closed if you remove the torsion bar for the assisted opening. Unless you have a drill press and want to drill your blade...you are stuck with an assisted opening knife. I have never been a fan of assisted opening but I am happy that the sound of this opening is not too authoritative. I carry this knife as an EDC, the last thing I want is to flip this open with a loud clank and draw any more attention from sheeple than I need to. Also keep in mind that the torsion bars on all Kershaw assisted opening knives will eventually break. Kershaw's customer service is great and will send you replacement torsions bars and screws no questions asked. I have broken the torsion bar on my blur twice already. I took it out completely in my blur, which unlike the Cryo is luckily drilled for the detent. All in all for the money it is a great little knife that holds it's own against knives much more expensive than it.

After sharpening and adjustment, this is a great little knife. Great value.
I'm a knife snob, and a sharpening snob. For me, pocket knives need to be easy to carry, easy to open/close, and maintain a sharp edge during use. I'll cover these criteria now: The knife is a downsized and (significantly) cheaper version of the Zero Tolerance ZT350 (which is my main carry knife). The blade comes with an OK factory edge, which is just OK (for snobs) or just fine (for it's intended market). I used a Lansky diamond sharpener (look at my other reviews for details) to put a much better edge on the blade. The Cryo steel (8Cr13MoV) is not as durable/tough as the 350 steel (S30V), but it sharpens to a good edge and has reasonable edge retention. Opening boxes and cutting copper wire can dull the Cryo edge sooner than the 350. Restoring the edge on the Cryo is much easier due to the softer steel. The knife handle is easy to grip if you have medium or small hands. I have average guy hands, and when I grip the knife my pinky ends up on that little flat area at teh base of the handle. The pocket clip doesn't seem to get in the way of gripping the knife. The assisted opening works quite well, allowing for very fast one handed opening. One handed closing is easily accomplished. When I received the knife, I found that the blade pivot was overtightened at the factory causing incomplete opening. I disassembled the knife completely and regreased with a teflon based lubricant. The knife blade now has zero side to side wobble, and is perfectly centered between the handle slabs. The carry clip is initially overtight (almost impossible to clip/unclip to my pants pocket. I carefully bent the clip curve until it gently holds to the pocket. The carry height is very deep in the pocket, so there's very little of the knife visible. Overall, the knife as delivered (Ok edge, blade not centered between handles, assisted opening not opening reliably) would get a 3 stars if I had paid full price. At the discounted price, it gets 4 stars. After sharpening and adjusting, it gets 5 stars. It's one of my favorite knives now. For the price (and if you're mechanically inclined enough to some adjustments), I highly recommend it for everyday carry.

My New EDC Knife
I looked at this knife for a while before actually purchasing. I was carrying a larger folder knife and every now and then if I had to carry other things around in my pockets it would get in the way. I saw the other reviews on this knife and made note of it's smaller size, but it took me a while to actually purchase. I am glad I did purchase this knife. Build quality is great, the finish is flaw free, and every bolt and screw is tight. The blade also came very sharp and has held up for a few weeks now without needing to be resharpened. SpeedSafe assisted opening took only a few openings to get the hang of opening quickly. I would have to say it is safe to open the knife this way. Fingers have to be out of the way or the knife cannot open. It's also on the opposite side of the handle from the blade which would make it very difficult to slip and have the fingers go in the way of the blade, probably not impossible, but much more difficult than most other knives I have owned or handled. The way the blade locks into place when opened is very strong. There is a part of the frame that, when the blade is up, drops down underneath the blade to keep it from closing. Myself and a few others from work spent some time messing with this and trying to get it to fail, but none of us could. It feels safer than the knives that have the lock on the back of the handle that acts like a button press. It's very possible to, when trying to pry something, grip the knife in a way that depresses that lever. It seems very difficult to do that with this knife's frame lock. When gripping, the hand is wrapped around the frame which would make it very difficult to spread the frame open and allow the lock to disengage. The color is nice and not too shiny. Light doesn't create a glare on it when it's in my pocket. Overall this a very nice knife. I would say it's best use is an every day carry knife. It's the right size and weight to clip in to the pocket. I wear it all day and it hasn't been in the way of me getting anything out of my pockets yet. Very pleased with the purchase.

Simply the best pocket knife you will own.
Buy this knife and you will wonder how you lived without it. From a very early age, I was taught that a good pocket knife is a essential every day carry tool. I have have owned dozens of pocket knifes, many of which were loaded with gadgets (sizzors, files, even toothpicks). All of them lacked the engineering forethought required to fulfill the duties of a great pocket knife. What are these attributes? Sharp- The most dangerous tool can be a dull knife, so this knife is one of safest I have ever bought. This knife really does come from the factory razor sharp, and you will find yourself spending some time on the stone to recover this edge when you finally do dull it.This tells me the steel is reasonably hard and is supported by how long it carry’s a sharp edge. I have owned this knife for 2+ years and have sharpened it 3 times. I use it 2-3 times per week! Rugged- An every day carry gets used for every day tasks and must stand up to these varied uses. My knife is used to cut nylon rope, cardboard boxes, packing foam, fishing line, small gauge wire and frequently my lunch. The all steel construction of this knife coupled with a durable mechanical assist opening mechanism fits the bill for creating one tough knife. Safe- A good blade lockout is essential to safety. The lockout on this knife is rock solid. Absolutely no blade wiggle and does not close even with full pressure in the closing direction (though I don’t recommend you do this intentionally, use of common sense is essential and supprisingly uncommon). It is also easy to unlock, and with a bit of careful practice can easily be done with one hand. Comfort- The grip on this knife seems as though it was molded to my hand. Every grip edge has been thoughtfully rounded so it does not cause compression uncomfort. The smooth design also allows it to slide easily within my pocket which means my thigh doesn’t get pinched when I sit down. The addition of large knurle like knobs adds enough grip so you don’t feel like you are grabbing a bar of soap. Affordability- While it isn’t a $5.00 infomercial special, it is affordable and I am not scared to use it in fear of loosing my investment. In fact, I have bought 4 of these knifes. 2 of them were confiscated at airport security (forgot to take them out of my pocket), one is in my pocket now and the 4th is safely stored in the event I need to replace the one I currently carry. So why not 5 stars? - There are really only two very minor issues with this knife. They are: 1. The mechanical assist takes about 100 cycles to wear into an “easy opener.” The first few openings seem stiff, but stick with it. In a short while the blade will be wizzing open faster than WalMart on Black Friday. 2. While the smooth outer surface prevents thigh pinching, it does also mean that if you hands are covered in a slippery stuff (like the mucoprotine coating of a fish), handling the knife becomes a cautious activity. For this reason, I tend to avoid using this knife when processing game and favor a fixed blade with a non-slip grip (specifically the Cutco drop point hunting knife item # 5718). Bottom line, the only reason I would ever consider an alternative every day carry knife would be the inability to procure a replacement for the knives I already own. My complements to Rick Henderer for designing one fantastic pocket knife!

Better than expected
I bought the Kershaw Cryo as a replacement for my old Schrade. I purchased the knife as a general purpose everyday use carry knife for the home and office. Size: The knife was just the right size for me, closed is 3 3/4 inches and the blade 2 3/4 inches. Since I carry this at the office to open boxes, cut straps, etc, I couldn't get a larger knife. They frown on weapon looking knives but tool looking knives are okay. Weight: This knife is solid. It weighs more than a Zytel handled knife but I did not find it too heavy. At this point, I an not aware most of the time that I am carrying it when I use the belt clip. Belt Clip: The belt clip is movable to 4 locations. You will need a very small tool to change it. After playing with it awhile I ended back at the original position. You can also remove it entirely. The clip is stiff and may eventually wear the pocket edge after considerable use. It is also a bit tricky to use at first. I now have no problems. Sharpness: It was able to shave arm hair right out of the box. I have opened boxes, trimmed plants, cut vines, etc and it still cuts hair. I have not attempted to sharpen the blade yet. Blade: As I researched this knife I read a lot about blade centering issues. The one I was shipped was nearly perfectly centered. The blade is much thicker than my old Schrade and also wider. It is very sturdy. I did not buy the serrated version because of the tool vs weapon situation. I may get a serrated version for a camping knife later on to cut rope and other things. Assisted Open: There are 2 methods of assisted open. I found the thumb stud to be completely useless. If I did manage to get it open, the blade would only travel part way. There is also the lever method. This feature was excellent. There are 2 basic ways I have found to use it. In YouTube videos they mostly show using you index finger tip to actuate the assisted opening lever. While this is okay, I found that if I hold the knife so the lever contact near my large knuckle of my index finger is much better. The knife is held more secure, it opens with a slight squeeze of your finger and is in the ready to use position immediately. Other assisted open knives have a safety lock to prevent the knife from opening in your pocket unintentionally. This knife does not. I think it is due to the distance the lever needs to be moved before the spring takes over makes this safe without the lock. It's really nice to be able to open the knife one handed rather than fumble with a safety lock while balancing a box with the other. General Construction: The Cryo seems very sturdy and has screws to tighten the parts if they come loose. The blade locks tight and has no noticeable wobble. The jimping on the blade and handle seem to be in the correct position. The finish looks nice and I use the pocket clip to keep it away from my keys so I don't know how durable it is. I love this knife and carry it everywhere. I have recommend this to several friends and would consider this knife again. I wished I could have given a 5 but due to the stud opening issue and the potential clothing damage on the clip, I gave a 4. Had the studs not been installed, it would have been a 5. Over all this is my favorite pocket knife that I have every owned. Update 12/3/2021 I update my option to 5 stars. Years later, this is still my favorite pocket knife. The clip has not worn my pocket as I suspected it might. I still can't work the opening stud but don't care any more.

Perfect knife for me
This knife is exactly what I was looking for, as it met every one of my criteria. I'm no knife expert, and I really don't have the appreciation (or at least the budget) for the higher quality knives that are out there. Here's what I was looking for: 1) Good price point. I got mine for $25. This is a basic EDC for me, and being in my pocket (see 2 below) vs my belt or a sheath means it has at least some chance of being lost at any time. So there's no point in paying 5x as much for a zero tolerance or other higher end knife. 2) I'm in a white collar environment. I probably shouldn't even have an EDC on me at work at all since some would consider it a 'weapon', whereas I consider it a tool. So the sleek look is another bonus. I was expecting the handle to be a little slick but that's really not the case at all. It looks and feels good. 3) I was using a cheap Gerber that was pretty tiny. About the size of a SOG Flash 1. I wanted something that wasn't much longer (see 2 above) but had a little more beef to it. The Cryo has a slightly longer handle but is easily 50% wider and just fits much better in my hand. But the blade actually seems a little stubby compared to the handle.....which is what I wanted. The blade is plenty big enough for EDC uses, but probably not big enough for people to freak out when they see it. 4) I wanted something with a flipper and thumb stud. Very nice assisted opening action. The flipper actually works so well that the thumb stud isn't even necessary. I'm not going to get into what kind of steel the blade is made from, or the fact that it's made in China, or tip up or tip down. Other reviewers will cover that. It's a $25 knife from a reputable manufacturer that meets my needs perfectly. I will keep it in my amazon cart and watch for a price drop just so I can make sure I have a spare. Hope this review is helpful.

Great inexpensive knife. Kershaw 155TI Cryo SpeedSafe Folding Knife
Kershaw 155TI Cryo SpeedSafe Folding Knife This Kershaw 155TI Cryo SpeedSafe Folding knife is a fantastic knife. It comes very sharp but I have had it long enough that I have had to sharpen it and it holds the sharp edge fairly well. It is appropriately sized to conceal or carry in your pocket, whatever verbiage you want to use, in the state I live in. I suggest you check your local laws if you are unsure. It will prevent you from going to jail and that is a great thing. I have several knives and I carry this Kershaw knife every day. This Kershaw Cryo knife fits in my pocket well and doesn't drag my pocket down much. There is a nice clip that holds it to your pocket if you want to carry it that way. It opens with one hand easily and is able to be closed one handed if you are careful. It has a locking frame which holds the blade very stable for use. I love this particular knife. The finish is nice and hasn't worn at all in the 2 years I have owned it. Well worth the price you pay for it. I have seen many other knives in this price range and they are not normally of this high a quality. I have read that this is a Chinese manufactured blade, although I am not sure. Supposedly the US manufactured blades are superior strength and quality but I have to tell you I cannot imagine it is significantly better for the average persons’ usage. If you found my review helpful I would appreciate that you click the “Yes” button to let me know that I am providing useful information to you and others.

Toppenkniv

Kauftip!

Outdated but good
It's sharp and sturdy, but quite heavy and requires to much pressure to deploy. In 2023 there are better alternatives. I have large hands and to me it's a three finger grip.
