Andy Guitar Easy Fingerstyle For Beginners: Simple introduction with 12 easy songs

Forget the 'fingerstyle' tag - this is really an intro to reading TAB
What do you think 'fingerstyle' means and what do you expect to be taught? If you have no knowledge or understanding of how guitar tablature (TAB) is read and interpreted, then this book will help as it's a well-structured introduction to that skill.BUT, if you expect to learn how to use, say, three fingers independently when playing strings 1,2 and 3 and maybe also how to use your thumb for a steady or alternating bass accompaniment, then this book is NOT for you.The book consists of 12 ultra-simple well known tunes which are played using single notes or simple two-note chords almost exclusively using just the top three strings of the guitar. There is no suggestion that you should use one or two fingers and there is nothing to stop you using a pick or your thumb. There are Youtube demos to accompany the lessons, but there's no mandatory reason to actually use them. There's nothing wrong with this technique and for absolute beginners it will help (although the same information is freely available on the internet and as downloadable, free pdf documents) .... but the 'fingerstyle tag in the title could well mislead you. This book focuses on teaching you to read tab and to develop confidence when playing very simple melody lines. Also, of course, the book is geared towards encouraging you to buy further tutors in the series and that could get expensive.Depending your own needs, experience and levels of understanding, here are a few suggestions that you might like to check out on the Amazon site ...1) - 'Beginning fingerstyle' by Lou Manzi (Available with a CD if you wish)2) - 'Fingerstyle Guitar Method Complete' by Lou Manzi (compilation of all the books in that series)3) - 'The acoustic guitar method, complete edition' by David Hamburger (covers basic melody playing through to complex fingerstyle techniques)If you conduct your own research, you will come across 'The Acoustic Guitar Bible' by Eric Roche. This is a wonderful book but it is not really a tutor as it combines history with guitar information and tips as well as some lessons.

Avoid! - sorry.
If you look on the back, it says,”Video tutorials for each of these songs are available separately at andyguitar.co.uk” The only one I could find on the site, you have to pay for. If you want to send Andy guitar a message you have to log in his website with a password. I asked for and got my money back. The book tells you on what frets you can find the notes, but does not tell you what fingers you use. I suspect, and I may be wrong that the book is just a “hook” to get people to buy his courses. If I am wrong, then in my personal view it is a shoddy piece of work.

No good for students who know a little about notation.
In his other books he as written are of good teaching in my opinion but this one he labels as intermediate but in my opinion it’s more for very easy beginner.
