Therm-a-Rest Lite Seat Ultralight Inflatable Seat Cushion, Blue , 13 x 16 Inches

Bought two of these for high school sporting events on bleachers. They work well as a little extra cushion. You can blow it up firm or a little less which I prefer. Folds up and fits in my backpack water bottle pocket so I also have taken this on some longer plane flights.

I use this on long flights and it makes the seat much more comfortable. It easily self inflates and you can let out some of the air while sitting on it until it feels just right. With the harder seats on some planes now, it's almost a necessity and the fit is perfect.

Folds small, big comfort!

This is a very lightweight air cushion that appears to be well-made. Based on experience with Therm-a-rest, this is a well-made item.The technology of sitting on a thin air cushion versus sitting on memory foam material seems to work much better in an uncomfortable seat (or on a cold rock). The 3" thick cousin of this item, "Camp Seat" which Therm-a-rest no longer makes, worked great on very long airplane or uncomfortable car seat rides.It handily wraps up on itself with a small, unobtrusive cord.While it self-inflates, you still need to add a few breaths of your own to get it to full status. Not real sanitary.The reason I give it four stars and not five is it is not quite thick enough for purpose- allowing a 180 pound personto sit on a cold rock for an hour or in an uncomfortable airplane seat for 8 hours.Therm-a-rest has the expertise to make this another 1/2 inch or so thick with little or no additional weight. This would make it perfect for both the backpacker minimizing weight and the distance car/ plane traveler.

A few other seat cushions I've brought along for air travel took up almost all of my backpack capacity. This inflatable cushion packs into a size of a Chipotle burrito, leaving plenty of space in the backpack for other essentials.Inflates in a few seconds, no need to blow air into it. My preference was to not fully inflate, which allows some flexibility to form to the shape of your bottom. If it feels too firm and wobbly while seated, slowly twist open the valve to release some air.

I had trouble getting comfortable on a long overnight train ride. I tried a couple of other cushions with no relief. A few people who travel by train recommended this cushion, and I am happy to report that it was so helpful. The best comfort was actually to be seated on it and release air until my rear end almost touches the seat. And this it was like sitting on a soft waterbed for the rest of the long ride. I was weary about spending so much on a travel seat cushion, but it has been very worth it.

I've tried many inflatable cushions over the years and this is hands down the best. Most inflatable cushions have separate compartments inside them and after a while those come apart, so when you sit on them you get an air bubble on one side. These are far more sturdy and I've yet to have one come apart. The trick, as various people have mentioned, is to only fill them about half full with air, so they give a little with your body weight. If you fill them full then it's like sitting on a wooden bench. They are great for traveling because they roll up very small and can easily be stashed away. Don't forget that if you are using them on a plane, the air inside them will expand as you get higher, so once you've reached cruising altitude you should let out some of the air to make them more comfortable.They only complaint I have about this model is that some of the colors - particularly the green - are garish to the point of being repellent. The dark blue is by far the best, and hopefully they will include some more neutral colors like grey in the future.

Purchased this Sep 11, 2023, really liked the product, easy to maintain, inflated to about 1.5 inches for a comfortable seat. December, 2024, the seat started to make popping sounds. The seat was not longer 1.5 inches thick (high) but now went to about 6.5 inches thick. Not longer a comfortable . I contacted the company support team in Jan, 2025, via email documenting the problem. I received an email back stating "Thank you for being in touch!" and "We will reply as soon as possible." Its been almost 2 months and I have not heard back stating we will sent you a new one or a refund . I would be cautious buying this product
