Review: Seemingly overpriced, but so worth it! - I have been getting into fixing up guitars and had really like the idea of the Fret Kisser, but it had always seemed too pricey for a non-professional. However, I saw this set as a Black Friday deal where the whole shebang was listed for around 80 bucks and I couldn't resist. I am happy to say that it works extremely well for doing those touch-ups to a fret board, and avoiding any 'beam leveling' which is usually overkill. As for the other items, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fret rocker! I had recently purchased a generic fret rocker and thought that it was perfectly serviceable. But when I had the StewMac to compare it to, I realized that the generic one was actually not accurate. The generic was giving me 'rocking' just by virtue of the fact that I had it slightly uneven across the frets. The StewMac is about twice as thick as the generic, and it is MUCH more accurate. This alone has possibly saved me hours of chasing 'ghost bumps' on my fretboard and doing unnecessary adjustments. All in all, I have no regrets. I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for. I'm just glad that I was able to 'pay for' it a lot less than the normal price! The string gauge is great too!

**Q: Why do items cost more one Amazon that on the Stewmac website?**
A: Stewmac adds a shipping fee.  I find it usually evens out.

**Q: Is there a way to buy this without also paying for the lifetime warranty? I repair guitars for kids and could really use this tool**
A: Great tool for spot repairs. I wasn't aware the purchase had a warranty mandate. I bought directly from StewMac. No warranty implied. Shop around.

**Q: So what are the radius notches with diamond grit if not used to crown after you level a fret? whats the purpose of these notches then?**
A: The notches don’t have the diamond coating, they sit on the fret before and after your high fret while your removing material, once it’s level with the others it won’t rock anymore

**Q: Will using the fret kisser and a fret rocker be equivalent to a fret leveling?**
A: Hi, thanks for the question. Both of those tools are used to 'spot level' specific areas of the fingerboard. For instance, if there was a high fret it would help single those out. The fret kisser is the same as the rocker but equipped with abrasive.  More of a quick fix if the frets are in otherwise good shape.
 
A fret level is generally referring to taking down the fret material across the entire board all at once.

I've enjoyed playing guitar for years (a few high dollar vintage ESP's and Ibanez guitars, however I never had the proper tools for adjusting for fret wear, or did I have measuring tools that gave me an indication of how it was set-up. The quality of these tools cannot be understated. Thick metal, precision machined, laser-etched (not just printed on). I was lucky enough to pick up this set during a sale (for around $70 from over$100), but it was in my list/cart regardless and I would've happily purchased this kit without saving money. If you play guitar, you'll need these tools...period! And don't settle for lesser quality 'no-name/cloned junk' copies here on Amazon. They may work OK in the interim, but they will not last. Those cheap, poorly manufactured products will wear out and you'll be buying them again one day or worse yet, trash your fretboard. I will/would buy from Stew Mac again and recommend this set for anyone who wants to take their guitar adjustments and maintenance seriously, you'll honestly get what you pay for! You'll see and feel confident in your purchase as soon as you peel the plastic off, WOW. -A happy customer (not a paid review!)
