Now that I'm 24, I no longer have actual clinical "acne", which is a relief. However, my skin is still very prone to periodic breakouts, which is why I'm constantly looking for a good skincare line. Yet most of the anti-breakout products I find in CVS are way too harsh for my skin--the levels of salicylic acid are much too high for my skin. If you're a teenager or a woman older than 35, CVS is the perfect place to find good skincare products at great prices. But if you're in your 20s and early 30s, there is no product that is really well-balanced for your mature-but-not-too-mature skin.I started looking at Dermalogica at first because they are Leaping Bunny certified ([...]). This means that they absolutely do not test on animals and are cruelty-free, which is something Clinique and other high-end skincare lines can't say. After a bit of research, I decided to take the plunge and plunk down the money for the Clearing Skin Wash, Gentle Cream Exfoliant, and Oil Control Lotion. And I'm so thankful I did! My skin is noticeably healthier and shine-free, and I haven't had a breakout since I started using these products. I still get the occasional pimple around my period, but nothing like the breakouts I was getting before. This exfoliant is my favorite product because it gets rid of all the dead skin without scratching micro-cuts into my face like a gritty exfoliant.Before you buy any Dermalogica product, I highly recommend visiting their website ([...]). Mine was definitely the true Dermalogica brand. The package itself was sealed and so was the tube. That said, the product is fantastic. I have dry and sensitive skin. Despite exfoliating regularly, my skin had become extremely flaky. I use high end products but nothing was helping to get rid of the dead skin cells. I decided to try this product and I am very glad I did. After the first time, my skin felt better but was still flaky. Other reviewers said they used this product more than twice a week. Two days later I used the product again and my skin was smooth and soft with very little dryness. I feel I do need another treatment but will wait a few days. I leave the product on my skin for 10 minutes. I've had no adverse reaction on my sensitive skin. I highly recommend this product. If I'm using it once a week or so, it keeps my very troublesome skin pretty much fine. It goes on easily, and then you have to wipe it off with a warm washcloth once it dries. So it's a minor pain, especially if your routine is tailored down to the minute, but worth it. For me, it takes a few days to have any real effect, and then I'll look in the mirror and realize my skin looks better.I'd imagine any skin product will work great for some people and not-so-great for others; this one is really good for me. I have the classic combination skin, and get lots of tiny little bumps from clogged pores, right in the oily areas. This product takes care of all those little blemishes within a few days, and if I use it regularly, keeps them away.
