There is no question technology is going to change how banking is done - and is a threat to community banks. Any thought, though, that start-up technology-based banks are going to be more than niche players is missing one major point - along with technological change comes the greater exposure to cyber-attacks. The big banks, for all their faults, are better able to withstand and pay for this problem, and at least one person interviewed in the book did note that all these changes play into the hands of the big banks.It is a good read, though, if you do not worry too much about who wins or loses, but what is coming.
