Great price to get the job done. Highly recommend this if you have little wood projects that need detailing.

Steel is very soft and dulls and nicks easy even when hitting an area near knot in Cherry wood. I suppose would be fine for pine, balsa, and maybe basswood but not for any wood that is considered hard, even if a softwood tree. Good variety of tools and for the price it's a great assortment for a quick task. Especially if you like sharpening one side bevel edges, you'll get lots of practice here. I re-sharpened to a steeper 35° and even higher angle to put a bit more metal behind the edge which helped a bit but also made using the chisels a little more difficult. Wear cut proof stainless mesh gloves if carving in hand by hand as these will stick and slip on you if not taking a deep bite out (then they just dull). Strongly recommend the standard practice of putting wood to be carved in a vise, but when working on a small handheld carving that isn't always an option, so protect hands accordingly, even if skilled with carving.

Not a professional set, so take it as it is priced. Can do the job but will be more challenging. I am good with it.

This is a great beginner's kit, though I don't recommend using it for hardwoods. Durable enough for softwoods.

They are not very sharp but they are sharp enough for a one time use project.

I don't think they can carve. After some cleaning up of them (a couple hours of work), removing of partly cut/removed metal pieces carefully, they look like the pictured items now. However, they are incredibly dull, dull/no sharp tip yarn needle like. I'm fact, my metal yarn needles without sharp tips (round tipped? What's the proper name...) are a bit sharper! I recommend a bit better of a starter set, if you are looking to try out carving. If you are looking for a carving set to use as a decoration, this is probably perfect for you!

A good starter set for people who want to try wood carving but don't want to commit to buying high-end Pfeil carving tools. I keep a set of these around for when I take on a student carver. I also take them on vacation, so if I get the urge to carve something, I have a small set on hand that I can afford to lose or give away.

These work well for the occasional small crafting project - I wouldn't recommend them to someone looking for serious or long term woodworking tools but they're fine for little projects. I did have to keep sharpening them while I was working on a project so just make sure you have a little blade sharpener on hand but for $6 theyre fine for arts and crafts use.
