Review: great relief for back compression and cute (the bad reviews didn't put it together right ;P) - I bought this and then read the bad reviews later, I figured with the amount of reviews and still being a high rating had to be good - soooo glad I did. I went back and read the bad reviews later, people! Because of this I too was like hmm, this ball looks awful small when I unpacked it and is it the purple that has more issue? NO. So, first of all, I was able to get it pumped to the right size the first night in less than 5 minutes with the provided pump. It did indeed look small, but I pumped it up half way let it sit a little bit and then pumped it up more (and guess what it is perfect). I am 5'2" and it brings me to a great height at my work provided desk. The ball is a little thicker and better quality than an average fitness ball, so that may be why it looks like it is pumped all the way and to small. It seems that some of the same reviewers that said ball to small, also have the back rest on backwards :| I LOVE it and am so glad I purchased. Can already feel the weight of compressed spine I used to feel from chairs being relieved. * It rolls nicely (I'm on carpet so not worried about to much roll) * Is more stable and thicker material than just an exercise ball * I like having the back support * it is uber cute with (like the purple and black) * Thank you Gaiam for a great chair at a reasonable cost - this has made sooo much difference!!! Review: Perfect if you are petite - I actually have a ball/base already, I purchased this one because of the back support. I wasn't sure if my back would actually lean against the back support or not? but it surprisingly gladly does. It really has good lumbar support and it's very comfortable to sit on. The ball in this base is smaller than my older one and I like it much better it sits lower and is perfect for my sewing machine table, although my preference is even lower at my sewing table, but this works pretty darn well. I wish they would have these with a hydraulic lift lol I have vinyl flooring and I thought the locks would not work and SLIDE AROUND, but they actually do give the wheels a little more grip when engaged.. On a slippery floor overall it's much more comfortable than my backless ball chair. I really love the color and it seems pretty sturdy. You don't have to fill the ball up too much like I said it's a lot smaller than my original chair that I purchased a few years back, I used an electric air pump, not the one that came with the chair.

Cheap casters but otherwise really nice
I like the chair very much. It has helped my posture, and my back is not in pain while using it. The height is perfect for me. I am 5' tall. The ball has a nice firm "bounce" and appears to be well made and will hopefully last a long time. The only issue I have are the cheap plastic casters. This makes the chair hard to move on thin Berber carpet, and they do not seem like they will last over time.

amazing product
Those 1-star review saying the ball is way too small. Try to sit on it. It’s not even all the way blowed, how is it supposed to look the right size? Instruction is super easy. Try to relax the ball first before assemble the other parts, so your ball can be relaxed during your assembly time. And then the rest are like super easy as long as you take 2 seconds to look at the instruction. I don’t know the quality yet since I haven’t used it for few months. But I’m 5’2” and I blow the ball just below 20-21”. And it fits me perfectly. Trust me I have a herman Miller chair, so I know what a good chair feels like. I saw and tried this in my office from another colleague, and it felt amazing. This chair allows me to stay alert and practice my core while I’m working all day. So yes, I like this product a lot and already recommended to others.

Great chair
Love this chair, has helped with the usual aches and pains that come from sitting for hours on a normal office chair.

Difficulty inflating the ball initially and extremely uncomfortable...
When I first received this, I used the pump that came with the order. It didn't inflate well. This was the first problem I faced. I bought another ball and it had a foot pump and I used that pump to inflate this ball. The chair is now as shown in pictures. After seeing a lot of great reviews and seeing how others have used it daily with positive results, I thought I'd give it a try. I've used it long enough to know that it's uncomfortable. My tail bone is always in pain when I stand up and I have to hover over or hunch my back for a bit after standing upright again. I improvised by placing my regular seat cushion over the ball. This allows me to rest my back against the back rest in a position where my tailbone isn't directly over the ball. I tried sitting on the ball with the seat cushion and the same thing happened. No improvements. Had I known this before making the purchase, I wouldn't have bought it. I contacted customer service and chatted with them about replacing just the ball thinking that just the ball had an issue, not the seat. They basically said that they could help me to start processing the return. I said that I could give it a few more days before starting the return. They said, paraphrasing, "How about this. You can keep the product and they'll issue a return." So, what a great bargain, I thought. So I thought a bit and wondered what the catch was and agreed. they said that it would take about a week or 7 days for the refund to be processed. I believed them and didn't think much about it. It was a good thing I checked to see the return on this chair to see what was going on. I realized that the catch was that "I still had to return it". I went into the chat and could not reach a person to chat with. They kept sending me an automated message. So, I basically felt lied to. I now will be packing the chair and returning it. I hope the return date hasn't expired. Deceptive marketing.

The ball really isn't big enough
I like the set up of the chair as it makes balancing on the ball much more comfortable. I confess, I didn't measure my desk before I made this purchase as it seems like a generically sized object. When I received the original chair, which says it is good for someone between 5 feet and 5 feet 11, I couldn't sit on the ball comfortably while in the frame because my knees were so close to my chest--I did wait 24 hours for the full inflate and tried sitting again. It was still too short. I purchased the risers that can be added to the casters and added them to the chair. This added about 2.5 inches of height to the base. The ball is still too short and doesn't inflate enough to get me out of the "knees in the chest zone." I'm 5'7 is to 5'8. With the knee situation, the chair really didn't work for me as it is sold. I'm currently making do with a larger exercise ball that I had at home, but I don't recommend buying this product as a single unit. It seems like the frame is an okay product, if short. The ball is tiny. Buying the frame, a larger ball, and the caster risers separately seems like the only way to make this really work.

Work your core while working at your desk!
First be sure to put the back on correctly...it seems to LOOK like it should go the other way but then there is no back support if screwed on in reverse...like I did at first (oops!) So look at the photo as you put it on. I had read about these years ago and how they'd been shown to work your core--people were using just the balls without the chairs to do core work and balance work while at the desk, but the problem with that was the balls roll when you get up and are inconvenient. So I was reading several articles back when I was a diet coach and very into fitness at that time...and I really wanted once of these as they all raved about it in tests. Back then they were about 4 times the price they are now and so I passed because I was working in someone else's office then and had no desire to leave my nice chair there where things sometimes vanished at night anyway. So I am in the process of having a new office built (an expansion actually of an old one) and so it's time to also pick out some new furniture that works better for me. Why not feel better when I am working and have to sit? To be honest, I first chose the chair because I had an issue with my tailbone after a cycling accident and I wanted more cushion or "give" without an ugly coccyx donut that move around. This actually is SO comfortable--but it does work your core too. I mean, let's face it, it will not replace pushups but when I am doing lots of different things at my desk and moving my arms around (twists) I am forcing my core to maintain balance rather than my bum as I would on a regular chair. Plus the color is hip and fun too since I painting the office a very pale yellow on board-paneled walls and very pale green shelving. Fun and happy room for fun and happy work! Plus I am self-employed now so it's my office---unfortunately I clean it myself now, but I also can leave cool things in it too like my hip chair.

Strength and Support
A brilliant item, well worth the investment. Great of you need the back support. Can also start to build up that core strength whilst working. Get a laptop table to go with it.

The only office chair I can use!
IF YOU HAVE BACK AND/OR HIP PROBLEMS, THIS IS THE CHAIR FOR YOU!! I have back and hip issues and have tried a lot of different office chairs (some were very expensive orthopaedic chairs), and this chair is the only one I can comfortably sit in for a full day at the office. The yoga ball doesn’t put any pressure on my hips and tail bone and it forces me to sit straighter, which is great for my back. I also love how I can do back bends over it if I’m feeling pressure in my spine. I have one at my place of work and just bought another one for my home office because I love it so much!
