Written from a Southern Baptist pastor and currently president of the International Mission Board, Platt does not mince words. Though essentially a rehash of his first book, Radical, he zones in on specific issues to confront with the gospel. This book is not infallible and conservatives, myself included, will not agree with everything he says. If taken seriously, on the other hand, Counter Culture will cause us to re-examine our attitudes toward sin, the sins of others, political policies, social issues, and so forth. This is a call to take the gospel seriously and use it to influence our culture, shape the way we think about and treat those different from ourselves, and to make our attitudes more Christocentric instead of "conservative" or "Republican." Please read this book if for no other reason than to just read a unique point of view on relevant issues that can be found virtually nowhere in society today. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Recommend, Grounded In the Bible *by D***N on January 23, 2018* Incredible book. He's very to the point and unapologetic about his beliefs, but is also very humble and considerate of the different viewpoints, doubts, and critiques of both Christians and non-Christians. He's also humble, admitting that his experiences with discrimination are very different than minorities in America, for example.I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to understand what it might look like to take a stance founded on biblical truths on important social issues in the US and across the world. I encountered several sections that felt like a David Platt sermon (which in this case, is a good thing!). One of my favorite aspects to this book is that the author ends each chapter with some suggested action steps to pray and engage on these issues.
