desertcart.com: Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Headphones (Black, On-Ear, Wireless Music, Hands-Free Calling, Built-in Mic, Foldable, Memory Form Earpads, Travel Bag) : Electronics

Review: Not a half bad set - just got these in today, and I've already got one extremely good pro with these, that not alot of Bluetooth "makers" do when it comes to their products. The first thing ill point out, and by far my favorite feature thus far, is the fact that while these charge u CAN use them still. I've had several BT headsets, and headphones where while it's charging you CANNOT use it, at all. Secondly, being a HUGE music buff, i need good sound. I don't have a full range sound system in my car for no reason. The sound quality of these, listening to more metal/black metal/rock/punk styles of music, is exceptional. It's not horrible, of course its not the best out there, but for the price its not bad at all. It doesn't hit the extreme lows of say some rap/dub but there is still a presence of some moderate level bass. The mid-high range is decent, it does get slightly "scratchy" at extreme volumes but its not horrible. Last thing ill touch on is pairing. It paired quick and easy with my phone, samsung solstice. I did have a slight issue pairing it to my BT dongle on my comp but i realized i didn't have the "official" driver installed for it, which shouldn't have been a issue but it was. Found the disk for it and it paired with no issues, its a SMK-LINK VP6493. As of now there are no issues with this device. I've only given it 4 stars for now to leave, room, for any "early judgement" on the device. I got this more or less for flights as I've been traveling a lot lately. I will update this within the next couple weeks to let you guys know how it does traveling/while working. Edit - 9/24/2012 one thing i forgot to touch on, was how comfortable this was. At first it did seem a little small. it was a little annoying getting my hair around it. However after it was on it wasn't all that uncomfortable. A tad small but it fits and it doesn't "squeeze", and it doesn't yank on my ears. There is a video review for this item that touches on how comfortable this product is and he hits the nail on the head as some would say. edit - 10/13/2012 after a couple weeks, these headphones are still rolling, in most cases they outlast my phone *Samsung solstice* when I'm listening to music. call quality is good, I've only had a few instances where the other person couldn't hear me but I'm not positive if it was the headset as the phones the company i work for use suck, horribly. i use them daily while at work and home, the distance around the house is about 15-20 feet going through 1 or 2 walls, i know of 1 wall in the house that is a solid block wall and any connection *even my routers going through that wall directly to the other side* has issues with thick walls. I've also been on 3 flights with them and had no issues. occasionally however when at work it will cut out for a split second but its nothing to major. I've upped this to 5 stars for now, will keep you guys updated as to full longevity of them in a single use.
Review: So far so good. Comfortable, good battery life, good range, good sound, easy-to-find buttons - So far, I've really enjoyed these relatively low-cost bluetooth headphones. I have not carried out a phone conversation on them, and so I cannot speak to how well they work there. However, I did test them to launch my phone's voice activation, and the phone was able to understand my request and execute it properly. Otherwise, I have been using these headphones with my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Android phone) to listen to music. I have a fairly large head, but these headphones are comfortable. In fact, most of the time I forget that I'm even wearing them. Years ago, I owned a pair of Wi-Gear iMuffs that had a very similar design, but those iMuffs eventually caused my ears to hurt. I can wear these for long periods of time without any pinching. Also, the rigid band that goes around the back of my head doesn't interfere much with my neck. Overall, it is a very comfortable experience. Plus, whereas the iMuffs foam padding eventually degraded and flaked off, I feel like the pads on these headphones will be pretty sturdy. I haven't used the headphones for long, but I'm still running off of the factory charge. Other reviewers have commented on their extremely long battery life; I haven't had any experience that contradicts that. The range of the headphones is adequate. When I sit at my desk, my phone sits on its dock which is slightly more than an arm's length away, and I have no trouble maintaining a connection. I can get up and walk around my office without any trouble either. I will eventually lose connection when I walk down the hall, but I usually take my phone with me if I need to walk that far away. So I'm happy with the range. Having said that, a few times earlier today, the headphones dropped connection randomly. I was able to press the call button to get them to reconnect. I'm not sure what the problem was. I'm also not sure it wasn't related to my phone and not the headphones. It hasn't happened recently, and so I'm hoping it's just an odd fluke (interference?). I'm happy with the audio quality. They might not do as good of a job at rejecting noise as an inner-ear design; however, the pads of the headphones sit solidly on my ears, and so I generally don't notice most other office noises when I have them on. The sound of the music is clear. The bass is decent. I don't have any complaints about the sound quality. I was happy that all of the buttons are on a single headphone (the one on the right side), and all of the buttons face away from my head (i.e., none are wrapped up around the edge of the headphone). After a little training, it is easy to locate the skip buttons and the volume buttons. On other bluetooth devices, holding down the call/play/pause button brings up the phone's voice command. On these headphones, it's a quick double tap. That took some time to get used to, but I'm happy with it. The headphones have the ability to fold up and slide into a carrying case provided by Kinivo. I keep mine at my desk all the time, but if I was moving around a lot, I might like that feature. It seems dangerous to toss a pair of rigid headphones into a backpack, and so it's nice to be able to fold them down and tuck them away where they won't get caught on anything. My only real complaint so far: Given the long battery life of these headphones, I would be happier if they made the timeout before sleeping a little longer. Are there better headphones? I'm sure. But for the $20--$30 range, I think these are a very good pair.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is the fit? Does it hurt the ear?**
A: I find that these headphones do hurt the ears and are not adjustable. I sync these with my android and use them at my desk all day, they're also great for using around the house. But after a half hour or so they definitely pinch the back-top of my ears. Not so much that they're unusable but enough that I definitely can't call them comfortable. I'm keeping them because they work great and the price is phenomenal but I think I'll get a pair of over the ear for all day use. If you're a bigger guy you may want to do the same, or at least realize that they will not "break-in" over time. If they're uncomfortable when you get them, they will stay that way. Otherwise, great product.

**Q: do they work with kindle fire hd?**
A: Yes. I just received them yesterday and used them with my Kindle Fire Hd 8.9" for watching a movie. They even pause and play the movie and control the volume!

**Q: Are these head phones rechargeable...**
A: Dear Lauren,Thank you for your question about the BTH220 stereo Bluetooth headphones. The BTH220 headphones do have a rechargeable battery. The battery will last for 8 hours of playback, on a single charge. Please contact us at support@kinivo.com if you have any additional questions.Thank you, Kinivo Product SupportEmail: support@kinivo.comToll Free: 1-855-4Kinivo (1-855-454-6486)Live Chat: http://support.kinivo.com(Mon-Fri: 9am-5pm Pacific)

**Q: Are these headphones good for working out/lifting weights? Are they somewhat sweat resistant?**
A: I have had these headphones for at least 3 years now and I use them for working out, mostly weight lifting all the time. I haven't had a problem with them when I'm lying on my back, doing plyo work, etc. In ear buds just don't work for me because I sweat too much and bouncing around at all causes them to fall right out. The one exception I've found is the YurBuds, but they are wired and these sound much better to me. They've also been very durable. I carry them around in my gym bag or purse all the time with no special care. They fold up pretty compactly. The screws are showing corrosion from all the sweat and the ear pads are showing some wear from all the use, but I think that's expected at this point. These have been my favorite headphone purchase ever and I've been through several!
