Been using 3/4 of a year and I can say that it didn't clear my acne issues at all. Witch hazel does an over all better job of soothing my skin too!

Why does this have bht? that’s a harmful chemical

Well my first supposition would be that it has it because it works! Harmful chemicals are in absolutely every product sold in the United States, especially beauty products.. & you have to remember that just because a rat gets a headache after having the stuff injected into its eyeballs or whatever, that does not make it a "harmful chemical" to YOU! Unless of course you're shoving it in your eyeball, eating it or putting it in your veins. Are you?

Remember, first & foremost, that generally YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (most of the time.. you can get the same product for about half the price of Aveeno AND which smells infinitely better- if you go to CVS and buy their 'house' version.. I think this week it's called Beauty 360 & I've always found it was a BETTER product, even though the ingredient list is the same.. but it might just be made better, one never knows..) 
Secondly, if you want products that are absolutely fabulous, do what their advertisements claim & are "better" for you, go to Europe; they have much stricter regulations on pretty much everything than the FDA & EPA do. Don't buy American products (which are driven solely & quite profitably by greed, with little regard for safety whatsoever -UNLESS IT PAYS); there's a reason why no one on the planet has a higher cancer rate than the United States..& only a part of it is because of our ignorant adoration/adherence to 'social' media & what other people think! If you do, be prepared to pay $100 or better for 4 to 6 oz of the same (ish) product..& be happier, more satisfied and live longer..
