One Adventure After Another: Adventures Flying a Small Airplane

What a wonderful love story Mr. Lewis shared - both of his love of aviation and of his wife, Edna. As someone looking to follow a late life flying adventure, I found inspiration as well as real practical flying advice. I should be so lucky as Mr. Lewis to be flying till I’m 80 yrs old! What an adventure!

Maybe a bit light on the needed editing but a fun read nonetheless. If you're into or interested in flying its fun to hear all the stories!

A pilot friend gave me ONE ADVENTURE AFTER ANOTHER because he thought I would get a kick out of it. Really? I thought he was sharing some inside pilot humor. I was prepared to snooze. I could not put this book down and didn't until I finished it later that night. The authors wove a funny and suspenseful story. Even though I knew they'd survived wild and crazy unpredictable storms and other hair-raising times in that plane, I was still held in the story's grip. Even the technical aspects specific to the author's learning to fly that aircraft were interesting to me and I learned a lot about flying. Reading about the mechanics and the aerodynamics then made their harrowing experiences in the air very real to me. The authors don't talk down to their readers. Somehow they manage to span the gulf between my pilot friend and me--those of us still trying to figure out why planes stay up in the air. Also--I laughed out loud a lot.

A truly delightful story. I was on edge reading about the near mishaps then relieved to know how they had been resolved. This book provides excellent insight into what it's like to be a private pilot. I learned so much about flight technicalities and small aircraft. Very heartwarming to read about the hospitality extended to the flyers at airports as they made their way around the country.

One Adventure After Another is funny, honest, well-written and very informative. It takes the mystery out of aerodynamics in non-technical, easy-to-understand language. It conveys to the reader the joys, the thrills, and sense of accomplishment in learning to fly a small plane. "And it's not that hard" the pilot and author, John Lewis, says. If you still don't want to try it, at least read this book. John's and wife Edna's adventures are hilarious, hair-raising, and yes, educational.
