Learn to Sew for Your Doll: A Beginner's Guide to Sewing for an 18" Doll

I haven't had time to sit down and do any sewing or use this yet, but I was pleased with the patterns that are in it.

This little book has a few patterns and lots of stewing tips. I learned quite a few tricks even though I've been sewing for years. It's not really confusing but the step by step directions could be a little clearer and the patterns could be set up more conveniently. You need to make your own patterns really. It shows the shape of the pattern and you could use a copy machine to copy the page and then blow it up if needed. The extra sewing tips are all mixed in with the directions which is helpful but sometimes too much when you're just trying to follow a specific step by step. I really liked the book although I'd organize it differently. I don't think it's simple enough to turn my 9 year old daughter loose with it. This is a great beginner's book and one that a older child could use with supervision.

Bought two copies of this book one for me and one for the granddaughter. I plan on using it to "long-distnace" teach her to sew. The pattern pieces are bound into the book and need to be traced or copied so as not to destroy the book. The techniques used will work well for doll clothes but would not necessarily work for people clothes but that is the way it is with doll clothes. The drawings and photographs are black and white and some might say hard to tell what is being shown. I plan to add post it notes to explain to the gd how to do certain things with her machine since it doesn't even resemble the generic machine shown. With an adult to help I think this would be a good beginning sewing book.

The sewing book is good for starting out for sewing and that is why I got it for my grandaughter. She used it a few times and has lost interest for now, but she is 10 y.o. Enough said!

I returned it. Was not what I was looking for after I read whole book.

This is a basic book that will give even quite young people a pathway to sew for their dolls - something which I certainly support!~ It's a skill that - no matter how many electronics evolve in our culture - will always come in handy, if only for mending or adjusting clothing~!

Excellent book for adults to learn from as well as children well explained and in layman's terms

Rate as okay its similar too other burda simplicity and such patterns these books slightly more math detailed which for dyslexic like me difficult too understand without help
