Very happy.
Just bought one of these. Arrived a day early.Easy to assemble with a bit of common sense. Never had a chainsaw before and you need to assemble the chain mechanism, but simple enough.Very sturdy, well made and has a really robust feel to it.Yes, it is a little bit heavy when fully extended but all of these things are because the motor for the tools is at the far end of the extension. If you wear the harness properly it is more than bearable.I have tried the saw and it comfortably went through a 3 inch diameter branch, like a knife through butter.Mainly used the hedge trimmer this afternoon and it did everything I asked of it. I have done a job today that took me 1 hour. Last year it took me 6 hours up and down ladders. I have also been able to reach parts of a riverbank in my garden that have never been touched. If this is the type of tool you are researching, then dont waste any more time. BUY THIS ONE.

Quite useful
robustly built ... value for money ...2 issues though1) cant operate without extension pole so cant reach hedges close to your body.. have to drop back.2) top heavy as motors are at the top .. so cant extend your hands for reaching extra height (dropped my chainsaw twice as couldn't hold on after extending my arms)but overall a nice buy

Great machine
Got at least 30 Leylandi in back garden which had grown to at least 25ft...Used a hand saw and sheers for years to trim them which took a lifetime âšī¸ Now I can chop them down to a reasonable height and chop up the waste in no time đ ... FANTASTIC BIT OF KIT đđģ

DANGEROUS - & MUST PAY TO RETURN IT!
So many issues with this product:1. There are NO instructions for this dangerous item, just a poor diagram of parts.2. It is badly made, e.g. the screw holes for the guard are not properly drilled or aligned, meaning you can't fit the guard properly (another reviewer has referred to a gap elsewhere on the machine they had to glue a washer to!)3. There is no way to keep the telescopic pole extended, keeping it fixed in place. This meant when I lifted it up it snapped shut on the palm of my hand, below my thumb, badly pinching and hurting it.4. There is a single screw supplied which might be to try and tighten the pole in place (no instructions so who knows!) but the nut which came with it would only go on at the very end, it was so badly made. It couldn't screw down the length of the screw to hold it tightly in place.5. The harness is ridiculous, you'd have to put the bottom of the pole in it, making it completely top heavy and unwieldy, you wouldn't be able to reach your hands far enough up it to control it.I had no idea how to assemble the chainsaw with no instructions. Even if you can figure it out, bearing in mind how cost-cutting this company has been, do you really want to risk your limbs? (There may well be other invisible defects). I don't.When I tried to return it for being damaged/defective/un-useable the seller wants ME to pay postage - which would be expensive as it's a heavy item.I have other Vonhaus items which are great, but this isn't really Vonhaus, it's a sub-company with very poor quality control. For the sake of an instruction manual, a nut which doesn't fit and the absence of a proper locking mechanism for the pole they've lost my sale. Please don't give them your money. Be careful that whatever product you buy has free returns.

Very good
Bought this as borrowed my neighbours when my old hedge trimmer packed up and went online and ordered straight away as was very impressed with it. Easy to assemble and comes with harness for doing long range cutting. Well made and good quality would highly recommend and good price

Very heavy for me. Fine if you've got good upper body strength.
I really wanted to like this product as I thought having corded version would allow bit of extra power to slice through the branches quicker. I had cordless before and the weight was all in the battery, nearest the body, so you could manoeuvre the trimmer precisely. Ive just found the corded version to be unwieldy for my body to cope with. It's made things more time consuming as I have to rest between stints.I'm fairly fit and strong and am very used to trimming and lopping branches (used on conifer and hawthorn). But I do struggle with all the weight of the motor being further forward. I feel like i'm blindly moving the trimmer just hoping it will make contact with something. I can't focus on where to cut because I'm concentrating so much on just balancing the thing upright. I've given an overall 3 star, could even say 4 because it certainly does do the job its intended for and is a decent cut on the trimmer (haven't tried the chainsaw element). It seems to cope with 12 mm branches very easily. It's well made. Bit fiddly to initially put together as it's nuts and bolts. Hence the low stars on this review as i'm comparing it with what ive been used to previously. It doesn't make it a bad device, I just think I would revert back to cordless which I find much lighter, easier to move about, and still managed to cut same thickness this does, so power wise i see no advantage for me to have corded.

Excellent garden tool. Well designed. Well made
I used the hedge trimmer to finally trim a 3m plus hedge. Side and top. I used the chainsaw and a step ladder to tame a huge apple tree 10m plus high. Apples just too high up to pick. Next year should be better. Very pleased with this tool. Excellent product. Should last for years. Use ear protection. Take care with booth tool heads.

short term solution
a very very good machine that works very well -- HOWEVER -- be aware that after the warrantee period they do not supply spares, my pole locking mech has broken, and they do not offer any service of any type except to sell you a new one. They state that if this had happened within the warrantee they would have replaced it, but after 5 years, its just hard luck. So you are buying equipment for a guaranteed working life of 12 months, unless of course its just a replacement blade you need.
