Dechra Vetradent Water Additive for Dogs and Cats 17 oz

After my eldest cat (who came to us with severe dental disease) had to have all but one of his teeth removed, I was determined to find a solution so that no one else would have to go through that. I started supplementing their water with this right after adopting our third cat who also came to us with severe dental disease. I’ve been using this product for two years now and can confidently say that it works! Since starting to supplement their water, my three senior cats have not had to have a single tooth extraction, which has not been the case in the past. I recommend this to every cat parent I know because I know how much money can be saved and how much pain you can prevent just by adding something to their water. We had spent thousands in the past on tooth extractions. This was the only thing we did differently so I know it’s the reason why their teeth are so much healthier now. I’m so glad we know about this product and will use it for however long I have cats (for the rest of my life). I've been using this for a little over a month now. While my dog still has some plague issues, her gums do look better (less redness), and the plague has gotten no worse. We are using the wipes (when I remember) and another brand of dental gel along with it and I still brush her teeth at least twice a week. She doesn't drink a lot of water, so I put this mix in a flush bottle and rinse her mouth after meals (and when she eats poop or something else gross in the yard) - You could say it's kind of like a water pic floss this way. I use 1 teaspoon in a half cup of water as not to have too much waste. She doesn't seem to mind it so I will be buying again.

My vet recommended this for my cats and we have continued to use it ever since. Our cats will not let us brush their teeth so we use this in addition to Greenies dental treats and they have had an improvement in their tarter levels and good dental reports from the vet! Our cats don't seem to mind the taste in their water at all. I would totally recommend!

This has really worked well! Simple to use. My dogs’ teeth are not getting the tartar buildup like before, which is saving them the fear and discomfort of dental work at the vet’s office, and saving me a lot of money. I initially added it to their water at half strength, in case they noticed a difference in the taste, but they didn’t.

I added this to my 1 gallon gravity waterer for my two kitties because it’s been proven to reduce tartar and even though they’re only 2, I’m a vet tech and I know how important dental health is early on. However, I first noticed it started causing mold spots to grow in the bowl by the time the gallon was almost gone. Gross, but not really that big of a deal. I just cleaned and refilled. However, after the first gallon, my kitties decided they were sick of this stuff. They stopped drinking from their water bowl altogether and started drinking from the plants, the toilet, dishes in the sink, etc. So I think, in theory, this would be a great product if it tasted better for the kiddos!

So far, all the pets (1 dog and 3 cats) are lapping up water...so they definitely do not mind any difference there may be in taste. When I sniffed the open bottle it has a slight scent, but again, even the cats don't mind! The cats have water in the basement too, but I noticed they are drinking from the Vetradent bowl a lot, so maybe they really like it! Though it's important for the cats, it's the dog whom I hope it works for. Our little dog has smelly breath again, and had an expensive dental about a year ago. I probably should have tried this sooner and am hoping to see an improvement. This comes in a decent-size bottle. I put 4 tsp in 2 cups of water per directions. Since a dental for cats or dogs is a ton of money, anything that prevents that is well worth it!
