Surprising value and capacity for the money
This side-saddle pleasantly surprised me with both the quality and the high capacity at such a low price. To be honest, the $30 price tag made me a little bit suspicious about the quality of the product I would receive, but so far it has served me faithfully. The ability to adjust the tension on each individual shell holder is a nice touch. However, warning for prospective buyers: the factory wooden fore-end on my Remington 870 Express was too long to accommodate this side-saddle because it’s travel overlapped with the first two shell slots and prevented me from properly pumping the gun. Most aftermarket and tactical fore-ends, which tend to be shorter, work just fine however. I replaced the factory wood stock and fore-end with Remington’s side folding stock and fore-end and the problem was instantly resolved. For reference, the aftermarket Remington fore-end is just under 8 inches long and does not overlap with the receiver at all.One other small nitpicky complaint: as others have mentioned, the saddle doesn’t sit completely flush against the side of the receiver. Even using the provided protective padded inserts in between the receiver and back of the saddle, there’s still the tiniest sliver of space between the two. It doesn’t affect the operation or handling of the gun, but aesthetically it’d be nice to close that little gap.All in all, though, I highly recommend this over a similarly priced but cheaply made competitor like Monstrum, or even quality saddleS like those made by Mesa, as they’re easily triple the price or more.

That it works
This is worth the money!!! I took a chance on this unit and it paid off... The shell holder is very well made, it is easy to install and works... I really like the "adjustment" for holding the shells in... There's a spot to put the supplied allen wrench into and by turning it you push in or out the nub that puts pressure on the shell and holds it in... The company does say that it won't work with some forearms but mine had no problems, mine is a 870 Tactical and the unit fits... I also have a Crimson Trace (CT) Lasersaddle on the shotgun and this mount works with the laser... They mount using the same pins that go through the Trigger Unit... I was able to use the rear pin that came with the CT laser and for the front pin I used the pin from CT and one of the screws from the mount, I just had to drill out the hole on the front of the shell holder to allow the CT pin to work, after that it worked perfect... So yes I recommend this shell holder, you won't go wrong if you buy it...

A fast and affordable option to the other expensive side saddles!
This side saddle is a solid choice for someone looking to save a few bucks. I saw the Mesa Tactical and knew that it would be high quality. But, at $60 I found it a tough decision. Then, I saw the Tacstar and this Promag. This had higher reviews so I took a chance and I was greatly pleased! It works flawlessly and I love that the tension on each shell holder is adjustable. Want super fast shell extraction? Just loosen it up! Going on a long trip where your shotgun is going to be bouncing around? Tighten them down and make those shells secure! I just love the flexibility you get.I will note that it doesn't fit PERFECTLY flush with the gun in all areas. There are little gaps at the far left and far right of the saddle. But, it affects function in absolutely NO way so I don't count it a negative.

Very well made, and holds 7, not 6, but takes some getting used to.
This side saddle is incredibly well made and engineered. Definite bargain for the money. AND, it holds 7, instead of 6. The one drawback, although it might be personal preference, is how far it sticks out from the side of the receiver. Due to the design, it sticks out about 1/4" farther than other side saddles I have. This is a bit disconcerting visually, and seemed to throw the balance off, although that could be my imagination. I've gotten used to it, so it's not an issue now, but your results may vary. Retention is adjustable, which is why it's thicker than other side saddles, but I like that it can be fine tuned to tight enough, but not too tight, as other side saddles can be.

Arch Shell Holder Rem 870 7Rd
The product arrived timely and was well packagedPros:1) The adjustments for each shell compartment is great. 1 shell was a little loose, but it took 30 seconds to adjust abd ready to go.2) Each shell has separate retainer and the contact point is rubber and does not harm shell during load and unload3) Super easy to install ( 5-10 minutes ) and I'm new to the 870. I did cheat a little and watched a couple of youtube videos first4) Looks really good on the weapon. the black finish is a good match to the receiver5) the rubber gasket (not needed) protects the finish of the receiver. No metal on metal contact.Cons:1) The attachment bracket is metal (good thing), but the shell holder piece is a poly material (looks like), Should hold up to use, but would of been nice if it were aluminum as well.Over all:I'm very happy with the purchase and would buy this product again from the same vendor.

I love this thing
I love this thing. I've got this on an HD 870 with an 18" barrel and +2 extended mag tube, set up like Little Ceaser's, "hot & ready" with one in the pipe and 6 in the extension, so this one carries the exact amount I need for a full re-load! Between the extended mag tube and this side saddle, it makes the gun heavy with the extra shells, but looks soooooo nice and it's HIGH QUALITY, built rock solid. If I get into a situation where I need more ammo than this, I'd be needing a bandolier. Yes, yes, there's a slight gap between the receiver and the holder, but WHO CARES? What are you really going to catch it on, a sheet of paper?? Because that's all that will fit in the space... it's rigid, so even if it got caught on something, it would never be able to bend, so stop being so a**l retentive! This is a fantastic bit of kit for the price!!!
