This maker is very well designed and manufactured - Please read update!!
My Keurig's pump gave out after a few months of on again off again operation. After reading about the new Keurigs and their requirement for licensed k-cups only, I decided to find an alternative system. After reading many reviews both professional and users, the Mixpresso seemed to be a good choice. The unpacking and setup was as easy as it gets, there was no unnecessary tape, packing material, etc. Just a well packed, easy to access coffee maker. After running some water through the system, I made my first cup of coffee. It was fast, almost completely silent and the coffee tasted like a professionally brewed dark roast ... just like it should of. Something my Keurig never quite attained. The ability to program a change in cup sizes is easy to accomplish and worked perfectly the first time. Even the manual is straightforward and easy to understand. The footprint of this machine is smaller than expected and I have gained some counter space back. The moving parts of the maker are very sturdy, the buttons are of excellent quality ... in total, this maker is very well designed and manufactured. If this maker has any longevity at all, it will be one of the best small appliance purchases I ever made.***** Update 5/11/17:***** After a very good first impression, during the second week of use, the unit began to produce smaller and smaller portion sizes to the point that no matter what size you chose, it was going to give you about half the requested size. I performed what all suggested cleanings and inspections.I tried to notify Mixpresso for assistance but never received any response.I did the only thing reasonable and returned the unit. Thank God for Amazon and their return policies. To sum things up, good design, appears to be well built, light on useful documentation and non-existent customer service. It really is a shame.

Still a Great little machine
3/17/24. Update: I still have this coffeemaker and it’s working perfectly. I went through two Keurig machines in the same amount of time that I’ve had this coffeemaker. Worth every penny!Update: I’ve been using this coffee maker for over three years now, every single day with no issues. I’ve only run cleaning solution through it once during this time. I have to say that this has been a great machine for me. When it finally dies, I’ll buy another one.I’ve had this machine about two months now. I like the style and the ease to fill the water reservoir. The machine is easy to clean and the size is compact. It’s a bit louder than a Keurig when brewing and the coffee isn’t as hot. I find if I turn the machine on and let it warm up for a minute or two, while I’m doing something else, it brews hotter coffee. However, just like my old Keurig, I have to heat up the just brewed coffee for 30 seconds in the microwave. That’s a personal preference, I like really hot coffee. I feel like this is a great little coffee maker for the money and so far it’s working just fine.

You don't need an expensive brewer to make good coffee
I am overall very impressed with this machine. After my old Keurig 2.0 died (as they all do), I tried replacing it with multiple new Keurig high end models, all of which were shockingly underwhelming or just frankly poorly designed. I did tons of research into different brands and models to see if someone else had come up with something better, and to my surprise, the K Cup brewer market was filled with mostly sub par (and overpriced) products. Perhaps I am just picky, but every single brewer I looked into had one or more deal breakers. Either it had horrible quality reports, would not make coffee in the sizes I wanted, and/or were insanely overpriced.Luckily, I stumbled upon this little guy. It's nothing fancy, though it does look quite slick in my opinion. The best part about it is that it simply makes a decent cup of coffee, that's it. No weird plastic smells, no spattering coffee everywhere, no insane price tag, just a simple no frills k cup brewer with a small footprint. I of course, cannot speak to its longevity, but if I can get 3 years out of it, it will be outdoing the Keurigs that I paid almost twice as much for, and I would be satisfied with that. The things I like the most about this thing are: - Makes a good cup of coffee (by k cup standards) - It isn't whisper quiet, but it isn't loud at all either. - The water reservoir is an easy to carry shape, not an obtuse MC Esher style disaster. - The Machine overall has a very small foot print - It's not that helpful, but there is a water level indicator on the front that adds a bit of flair. What isn't that great - The water reservoir has a little hole drilled in near the top to prevent you from overfilling it (at least that is what I assume it is for). I found this to be a bit overbearing, as I am pretty sure we will know if it's too full! It's annoying because if you are carrying it too and from the sink, water can have a habit of splashing up and through the small hole. - The coffee temperature can be poor as other described. I found that this is worsened if you try to brew with water straight out of a fridge dispenser, due to it being cooled. Even room temperature water can come out less hot than expected. What I found works best is to start the brewer and brew a single 6oz cup of water, throw it out, then brew your coffee. After that, it is piping hot. Please keep in mind though, even without doing that it is still drinkable, and in fact sometimes I do this on purpose so that I can start drinking it right away instead of waiting for it to cool. So I guess it's not a bug, it's a "feature".Other than that, there isn't much else to say. It's sad we are in a state where the best brewer I could find is this cheaper no frills one, but I am at least glad I found it.

Best single cup brewer we’ve ever owned (and we’ve gone thru many)
Hands down, the best single-cup brewer we have ever owned. You can customize your three cup sizes and everything about using it is super simple! We love the reservoir that is just the right size. Not too small, not too big. Heats water in seconds. Auto-turn off is nice to conserve energy. Who wants to continuously reheat water 24/7? This brewer is so fast, you don’t need to reheat water at all. We’re so impressed with this brewer that when it kicks the can, we’ll get another. Great price for a simple, yet excellent single-cup brewer. Can’t ask for more.

High Quality
Mixpresso makes a hot cup of coffee, unlike some other coffee makers we tried and returned. It is super easy to use and is streamlined, taking up much less space than other single cup coffee makers we tried. The coffee maker is very attractive - looks better in real life than in the photo. We were really impressed with the high quality functionality and appearance.

Works pretty well, but an it's annoying that after powering it on from the sleep you can't just hit the coffee button and go away while it does its thing. You have to wait until it 'warms up' (stops blinking lights) and only then you can actually ask it to make the coffee.

Very practical, simple to use, and it works great.
Wide range of cup sizes available. Program it to your needs and those settings remain unless you have reason to program it to a different range of cup sizes. I have mine programmed to the 8 oz, 10 oz, and 12 oz setting and that meets my needs. The machine uses k-cup or similar pods, or refillable screen-type pods filled with ground coffee. I find that using my thumbs to press the pods onto the piercing needle works best before closing the cover.I couldn't be happier with my unit.

Worst coffee maker ever.
Worst coffee maker I have ever bought. Water was hot when I first bought it, now almost lukewarm. Will still try to make a cup of coffee when water runs out. Thankfully I was next to it when it started gurgling. I read another review that said it melted because it was out of water and still tried to make coffee, does not turn off
