Comphensive summary of data in the public domian about Donna Summer
A decent biography of Donna Summer, one of the greats of 20th century music, with interviews of those who knew her best, has yet to be written. Meanwhile, this is a comprehensive summary of data in the public domain about her recordings and concerts. More than half the 315 pages is an alphabetical list of songs she sung and/or wrote: it is useful as a reference book, but not designed to be read from start to finish. The chronological list of her albums is more readable and gives an insight into the tensions between what she as an artist wanted to create, and the molds into which her various record companies wanted to force her. The numerous black and white photos are mainly of the covers of her albums.

A MUST for fans and curious too.
Excellent and documented book. Every song I look from Donna Summer is included and all the information has been carefully updated(I bought the 2015 updated version). It is a very comprehensive book. All DS. fans will be extremely satisfied with such a good book. I came to discover it by chance and really hope more DS fans can get to know about its existence. Definitely a MUST. All songs ever recorded by DS are here. Even shelved gems such as some of my favourites: Ordinary Miracle and Tearing downd the walls. Excellent work!!
