But romance must be put on hold while Daniel and Miyagi deal with local bullies and long-harbored grudges. The Karate Kid Part III (1989) Cobra Kai karate instructor John Kreese (Martin Kove) is still brooding over the defeat handed to him by Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita). When Mr. Miyagi refuses to train Daniel, even under threat, the boy makes the mistake of turning to Terry for guidance. The Next Karate Kid (1994) Mr. Miyagi is back and he takes a new pupil under his wing; a troubled adolescent girl. My Kid Loves This Franchise
I am so glad that this franchise decided to put all the movies together. My kid just discovered the Karate Kid films, and they really love all the movies. It's unfortunate that they don't make movies like this anymore, but at least we can give these youngsters a tidbit of how cool the 80s were.

I enjoyed all the karate kid movies except the remake.
The DVDs all played okay. really didn't care for the remake didn't like the character, seemed arrogant seemed unlikable. My opinion is biased because I've never liked Will Smith's son in any movie he's played in. I guess it goes back to him being a jerk character in The Day the Earth stood still and he still playing a jerk kid in this movie as well. Another aspect of the remake that I really didn't like was the romance kind of tie in. like in the first movie it worked with teenagers but it didn't work with kids, just kind of really weird. Really a bad choice in using such young actors and actresses in the remake.

I already had all five movies but bought this 5 dvd set as a gift, the price was too good to pass; now Sony did find ways to save money; in the box set of the first 4 movies I have (I bought Jaden Smith's 2010 remake in Blue Ray separately), each movie has it's own slim case with artwork and labels and all are both in English and French, though I prefer viewing them in the original English version. In this 5 DVD version, the discs are all bunched one on top of the other, some have labels (1 and 4), others don't, which is not a good idea since it doesn't say which one is Ralph Macchio and Jaden Smith on the disc; no big deal since they arrived in good shape and the extra features on volume one are still there. โBoth Ralph Macchio-Pat Morita and Jaden Smith-Jackie Chan's versions are great; my favorite is Karate Kid 2 because of their trip to Okinawa, same for the remake which was filmed in China; Although I always will have a sweet spot for Macchio (and Kobra Kai series which is excellent), I'm very impressed by Jaden Smith's performance, the choreographed combats are stunningly impressive, they even film on the great Wall of China...and there is no John Creese (whom I loathe) to get in this version, which is very respectful of the original script). Al in all, for the price and good video quality as well as the entertainment value, 5 movies for $10 is a great deal.

I bought these because, for some unknown reason, my ordinary DVD of the first film simply wouldn't play. It wasn't scratched or anything. No such problem here. Great quality all round and of course the films themselves are magnificent!
