Manfrotto 03614 Standard 1/4-20" Stud for Super Clamp

There's not much to say about these studs. They fit into Manfrotto superclamps, they've got a threaded 1/4" male end on them if you want to put a ball-head or hot-shoe foot on them, they're well made, and they're expensive. But if you get what you pay for I guess. I've not complaints. Secured a superclamp to a tree for a wedding last weekend, used the stud to hang a monoblock strobe and pocket wizard. A hurricane couldn't have knocked that light out of the tree.

I use the 036 Standard Stud to mount a standard light head on a Super Clamp. The stud fits into a hexagonal socket and is secured with a double lock system: spring loaded lock pin and a twist knob. If you forget to torque the knob, it's loose but will not fall out unless you press the release pin. The tip sticks out an inch, plenty of room to secure a light head. The 036 is reversible and has a 3/8" screw for ball heads and a 1/4" one flip side for cold shoes and other accessories. However, because it protrudes an inch, ball heads "float" above the clamp, increasing vibration and weakening the connection. If you want to mount a tripod head, buy the Manfrotto 037 Reversible Short Stud It's similar to the 036 but is shorter, allowing the head to sit flush against the Super Clamp. Between the 037 Short Stud and 036 Standard Stud I can attach anything I want to my Super Clamp. I use the 036 Standard Stud more since it fits light heads but both studs are essential tools.

It's cheap. It's good. It's durable. It works perfectly. What more can you ask for in a Manfrotto product? I like the hexagonal part so the stud doesn't rotate if it gets loose. Very useful for the work that I do.

Bought these to go into my Impact Super Clamps. I really like using these instead of some of the NEEWER ones or other alternatives because the bolt-style head keeps it from turning. Worth the buy.

I only recently found out about super clamps, and I love them. Having a couple of extra studs around is nice since I tend to lose stuff.

I used it to mount a sound recorder to a super clamp. When removing the clamp it took about a 2 foot fall and the stud broke off in the screw socket. It wasn't hard to remove with the right tools but it was annoying. I understand it was my fault for poor handling but I do with this piece was a little more robust.
