Damn You, Autocorrect!: Awesomely Embarrassing Text Messages You Didn't Mean to Send [Madison, Jillian] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Damn You, Autocorrect!: Awesomely Embarrassing Text Messages You Didn't Mean to Send Review: Funniest book I've read in years - I saw a great web post with the 50 best autocorrect errors that the damnyouautocorrect site has found. It was so funny I was laughing out loud. Literally. So I bought this book for Kindle and loaded it onto iPad. It was just hilarious! I couldn't put it down. It's a light read but the situations resonate so strongly. This book is aimed where social interaction and technology meet, and the human costs of imperfect machines taking part in the conversation are so clear and funny. I laughed so long and hard that tears ran from my eyes. When's the last time a book did that to you? Review: Eyes Watering from Laughter... and *Strain* - I bought this e-book along with a few similar ones, and this is definitely the best of the bunch. It's longer than many others and only has a couple of items that I also saw in other books. And I found most all of the items funny to some degree; Some made me do the little snuffle laugh, others made me do the normal laugh, but at least half of them had me laughing like a loon with tears rolling out of my eyes. The book seemed to get funnier somewhere in the middle. I don't think that's accurate, since it's arranged by categories rather than escalating funniness; I think I just reached the point of self-perpetuating, out-of-control laughter. I've read it twice and it was just as funny the second time. (As other reviewers have mentioned, a lot of the humor in this book is sexual, anatomical, or otherwise not appropriate for all audiences. So, be aware. But if you have an open and/or dirty mind, you should find plenty to amuse you.) The layout is fine - no graphics splitting between pages, etc. And the "phone/iPod" graphic on each page is consistent in size and placement, so "Damn You, Autocorrect!..." looks nicer and more professionally produced than some similar books that have a messy mix of different sizes and qualities of pictures. But... I couldn't give "Damn You, Autocorrect!..." a full five stars because it's just difficult to read (on Kindle Paperwhite). The aforementioned "phone/iPod" graphic takes up about half a Paperwhite page, with conversation in the "screen" part of the graphic. So, the text within ends up being tiny. It's *possible* to read at that size, but requires holding your device quite close and taking frequent eye-rest breaks. I'm unsure about other Kindles, but the Paperwhite doesn't have a great zoom feature (as far as I could determine.) It's *possible* to enlarge a graphic to fullscreen size, but requires either awkward double-taps or a [press-and-hold press-zoom close-zoom-with-X-at-top] thing. Either way is slow and awkward. And you're turning pages quickly, so all the zooming gets old fast! I considered returning this purchase due to the difficulty of reading and irritation of zooming, especially since it's a pretty high-priced e-book. But it's funny enough that I think I'd regret getting rid of it. I enjoyed it far more than any of the others I checked out. I imagine I'll find it funny for a long time, and I can share it with others who will also.

Hilarious!
I especially enjoyed reading this aloud to my teenage sons. Great for getting them to roll their eyes, while I laughed until I couldn't breathe. Chocked full of great parenting ideas. I didn't fit any category entirely, but I found some of my techniques were in almost all of the categories. I think it was best to be flexible-even though I didn't know that I was. Highly recommended for parents of tweens and teens who have had enough of their gruff.

Laughing till it hurts
I got this book today when I came home during my lunch break. In the 10 minutes I had to peruse it - and I had already seen much of what I was reading - I guffawed several times. Simply put, the unintended meanings of these typos are some of the most amazing mental images ever put to paper. This will be on my coffee table for a very long time for guests to laugh over. Edited a month later: my girlfriend is very concerned about the uncontrolled laughter she hears in the other room when I'm re-reading this thing. It is powerfully funny.

Laughed so hard I cried!
I found this book to be absolutely hilarious. Some of the entries are possibly a little to ribald for some people but well worth the read. The occasional swear word makes an appearance (usually by accident!). This would be a great book for those days you need a little pick-me-up. I had tears running down my face for most of it. Oh the joys of modern convience!!!

A good gift for the digitally challenged
I discovered the site damnyouautocorrect.com a few weeks ago and was almost literally ROFLOLing, as the kids say (sort of). It was the kind of laughter that is surely therapeutic--abdominal-crunching, urinary-mishap-inducing. Looking for more of the same, I downloaded the book version of the site to my Kindle. Like the site, Damn You, Autocorrect! features screen shots of texted conversations that have gone embarrassingly awry because someone's smartphone autocorrected their text inappropriately. For example: > whatcha up to? < Nothin, just cleaning mom's vagina for thanksgiving. > hahaahaahh WHAT???? < Agh! I tried to type china. Auto-correct fail! < Bad visual > yeah I think she can handle the other thing on her own. The book includes 300 texted conversations, most of which have not previously appeared on the web site. Some of them are very funny, but my impression is that the percentage of laugh-out-loud autocorrect faux pas that are really good is lower in the book than on the web site. Or maybe it's just that there are a lot more examples to paw through on the site than in the book, so the success rate on the site seems higher. At any rate, I'd say that the book is not a necessary read. If you're a web savvy digital ager, stick with the web site. If, on the other hand, you want to buy a gift for someone who is digitally challenged, then picking up a copy of Damn You, Autocorrect! makes good sense. -- Debra Hamel
