Does the job, no complaints
The product was quite expensive but for us it is worth it as my partner struggles to cope with any level of heat. It’s easy to setup and run, plug it in and stick the end out the window. It cools down the room by a couple of degrees an hour till target temperature and is perfect for taking the edge off. The unit is quite large so takes up a fair amount of room, also if you don’t have the extendable tube you will need to place it very near a window. BE AWARE: the unit is loud when running, it has a compressor so it is loud even when in quiet mode and I think most people would struggle to sleep with it on without good ear plugs. I had researched mobile AC units and knew this was an expected part of any product like this so was not surprised, but there are plenty of reviewers on here that have been.

The best basic Portable AC on the market but with some major drawbacks
This is my fourth portable AC unit for my 60 Cubic meter bedroom N82 is rated for 80. My past AC's (all of which went back to the seller within a week) I bought on specification and found either they are but too noisy , they are quiet but don't cool and finally most just don't work at all. After much research I found DeLonghi make the most reliable and dare I say "only reliable" portable AC on the market. However, out the box the AC performed excellently and was very happy but these AC's come with some drawbacks. Pros: 1. Unit does cool the room within an hour, I got it to 23c after running 3 days which was pleasant as the outside temp was a very hot in 33c's. It does not matter what the temp the unit says it can reach what is most important is does the unit fill the room with chilled air and in this case it did. You would be surprised but other competitors just blow coolair within a meter of the unit. The wife and I think lesser known brands are running "a con" excuse the pun, and robbing buyers blind. 2. Best build quality of all the ones I purchased , the design is also quite good and proves it is not a rebranded Chinese off the shelf like most of the other non branded units. 3. At 9.5 BTU the N82 has a good spec than similar priced competitors. 4. Got wheels on the bottom for easy placement and handle on the sides. 5. Lowest sounding unit I have come across but portable AC's are in their own right still very noisy by design. 6. De Longhi chills the whole room not just blows cool air (long as you buy right one to the size of your room so measure you room size and check with the spec) Cons: 1. Remote is useless, does not sync with the unit so if you put the temp to 24 the unit will still show the old temp etc, no backlight (in this day and age is a must) and list of complaints about remote goes on. 2. Does not go lower than 22 Degrees C on my unit (though may take bit more running in time to get lower temp). Also out the box don't expect it to chill the room in an instant, units take time at startup apx 10-15 mins. 3. Unit is bulky , DeLonghi do make smaller versions at higher cost. 4. On the N82 there is no "Chill and Dehumidify" function, on the higher models there is. This is not apparent in the specs. 5. Needs optimum placement , works best when proximate to where you will be using the AC which may not be possible if your window is far away. In that case buy an exhaust extender but having massive piping may not look nice. 6. LED on unit is on top so cannot see the digital display and what the room temp is from a distance. Final advice: buy a unit with a spec a step higher than you need to future proof the item (some have heater function which is nice in winter). Don't get pulled in by high specs on non branded units they simply are unreliable though of the ones I know of Honeywell, AEG etc make good units so may be worth looking into those brands too (just to be impartial) . After buying four other brands I am happy with the N82 as it is the ONLY unit that has actually worked at a reasonable price.

Brilliant - love it
Bought 2 years ago! Being perimenopause this air con unit is an absolute must! I love the fact that it gets rid of the oppressive humidity. It’s big and pretty heavy but on the rare occasions we have this horribly muggy hot weather - it’s a life saver. It makes a noise but I can sleep through it. The pluses far out weigh the negatives. Last year it wasn’t used. Set it up today and it’s working great. Not cheap but recommended by a very good friend who has had a similar delonghi device for 18 years and hers is still working well.

Owner of Delonghi, EcoAir and Igenix aircons
After having read reviews about people complaining about this unit, I felt obliged to write a review. I own three portable units (igenix, eco-air and the delonghi) and have owned these for several years. Reason I have three different ones is because they are super heavy and I don't fancy carrying these between floors. So every year there is a heatwave the wife wants another unit in a different room, and I buy the ones which are discounted at the time. Bottom line is that my igenix has been running fine for 5 years now, but the hose connector isn't the greatest so it keeps falling out when I move it. Otherwise it's an excellent machine to keep a 5x5m bedroom nice and cool. Eco-air is similar, except the hose connector is better. During current heatwave it brings a 29c room down to 21c in about 2 hours. Onto the Delonghi - it is the QUIETEST out of all three, mainly because it has a fan strength setting. You have to understand that the hum of the compressor is something which will always be there! People saying that this machine is loud, either have a defective one or they don't understand the limitations of the machine. If you put fan to lowest setting it is the quietest out of all my machines (and each machine comes with the whisper quiet marketing BS). The reason the Delonghi is my favourite is because it feels the sturdiest AND can tackle a 7x10m room (kitchen extension). So my advice.. if you need to watch the pennies, buy the £300(?) Igenix, if you can stretch to £400-500 buy the Delonghi.

Works quite well, but VERY loud.
Unit cools small room fairly effectively. Adjustable fan levels and temperature on remote. Main issue is noise, it's so loud you can't hold a normal conversation if you're within about 4 metres of it! Measure around 65db which is pretty loud. Ends up surrounding it with packing boxes and foam so I could at least hear the TV!

Bedroom Cooling.
A nice portable AC. Good cooling with adjustable speed and temperature cooling. Short exhaust tube which is not ideal as unit needs to be closer to a window. Timer and sleep feature is very hands. Great little remote control but difficult to see at night as it has no backlight. Most importantly the noise, it is not quiet at all on fully power. However, On its lowest setting it is very comfortable, no louder then an average fan. I have had an older portable unite which was like a jet engine awful for sleeping. 43db on lowest 45db on medium and 53db on highest. Not bad compared to 77db on last old model. But you would not really have it on highest setting unless you are calling down a hot room before before use. Unit itself is quite compact with casters to push around. Easy to store away. Great portable solution and value item for relief from the new tropical Uk summer heat we are now experiencing.

Great at first but broke after a few weeks unfortunately
Easy enough to set up, cooled the whole room down in about 20 minutes, the fan mode was good when standing directly above the vents too. But, despite operating the air conditioner exactly according to the instruction manual, the unit began to produce a fishy odour after a few weeks of light use. A fishy smell in electrical appliances is indicative of overheated electrical components, which can be VERY dangerous!! Always beware of such smells, if they persist after cleaning the filter. For our safety we returned it, (we had to pay for the return, £50ish, but are hoping it gets refunded), Amazon support was very helpful. (The photos are of how it looked on delivery, and we packaged it back up so it looked the exact same on return.) UPDATE: We sent it to the return address the Amazon adviser on the phone told us to, using the return label they emailed us. But it was 'rejected by the recipient'. DPD now list it as a 'lost item'. The second Amazon adviser we spoke to said the first adviser should have organised free collection because they categorise it as a bulky item. (We asked for collection but were told by the first adviser that it wasn't available for us). Hoping to still get a refund for the item and £50 postage even though Amazon rejected the return, so fingers crossed! A bit stressful as the item was so expensive, and we followed return instructions to the letter.

Our saviour in the 34Degree heat!
This was not delivered when promised! Very disappointing considering the dire situation the UK was in during its heat wave. It was meant to save us on day 1 of the expected heat but didn't arrive. However, this large and very effective portable air conditioning unit blessed our home with its very powerful refrigerating powers! Once installed properly. The multiple ways to attach this to a window or attach through a vent in the wall was amazing. I would have like the venting pipe to be longer and smaller in diameter. Saying this, I don't know if this would compromise its ability to work. the engineers on amazon, please don't come for me!! It cooled my room and hall way down in around 1hour. saying this we like a cooler sleeping temperature so I'm sure it was probably only half an hour. I did not however, like the excessive noise it made. It was like, literally, having an old refrigerator in my bedroom, who's compressor or motor (I don't know how fridges or aircons work) was well past its sell by date. After moving this large item into my hallway in an effort to cool my room and combat the outrageous noise. On its very handy wheels. I realised that it was capable of cooling the whole top floor of my home. It is a moderately sized home for a family of two adults and one child. While it was in use I have not had to drain/empty it of water. From reading the previous reviewers, I believe this is due to its "self evaporating technology." Brilliant! Over all its got 5 stars for saving us in the heat and its ability to cool far larger of an area than expected but, lost some of it rating due to noise level. Good luck all in the next heat wave!!

Funciona perfectamente. Pero es algo ruidoso. Si eres sensible al ruido, no dormirás.

Soweit, so gut.
