I routinely evaluate a cupful of beans for their freshness and wholeness vs. the number of broken and burned in any given bag. I usually find 3-6 bad beans per cup for this brand; however this batch had a disappointing 50+ bad beans per cup (about 1/4 cup). The only brand I have ever seen worse was a Whole Foods 365 brand. For the discriminating coffee drinker this makes for a very bitter and poor cup of coffee. I hope that this is just a one-off and that the next bag will be up to the 5 Star rating I usually give.
