Colored Lathe Tool Handle - Solid Aluminum with Foam Grip - accepts full size (1/2" tang) Carbide Turning Tools, USA Made (Silver)

Ordered 4 different tool handles, 3 China types for 12 mm and this one for a 1/2" tang tool I have. The other 3 are okay, they work, but they are okay. Kind of light weight and not all that special. This one though is a world apart! It's like night and day in all ways.First off it's SO heavy duty, so much so, you can not appreciate it until you have it in your hands. My words can not do it justice. Pictures can not do it justice.I also like the length. Actually, as you can see, it is my longest tool right now. Maybe it's a personal preference, but I just like to have a handle that is long enough to be able to put my hand towards the back. Short handles just do not feel comfortable to me. But I am also no expert turner.Best part about this handle is the soft rubber coating. I did not even realize it had the rubber on the handle, my fault for not paying attention. But, I am so happy it has this, just feels so comfortable and it gives you sure a nice grip on the tool. It takes attract dust, but it brushes right off, doesn't really stick.On a side note, 12mm tangs work in this very well. Tried one and it fit right in and tightened up just fine. So it's multi-purpose :)Some might say it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for with this one! Worth every penny to me. Very happy, will be getting more and would recommend without hesitation at all. If you are on the fence, get it now, you will not regret it.

After selling my shop I didn’t begin turning again until purchasing a new lathe last year. I had never used carbide tools and purchased an inexpensive set and was amazed by the results. I purchased my first Simple Wood Turning last month and the results are astounding! I am able to remove massive amounts of material with perfect control and the quality is over the top. The handle is very comfortable and a good length. The only suggestion and this is not a complaint, is that Simple should make a "quick switch" version. It could be as "Simple" as a screw cap (wedging down on the tool shaft) rather than set screws. When switching between different lathe chisels, the current model takes a bit too long. I do like this handle and if Simple does make a quick change version, I could make this a semi-permanent handle for the most common chisel I use.

The Simple Woodturning Tools lathe handle represents a great value in an American-made tool. The handle is comfortable and the grip really helps in tool control. A good value for a product made in the heart of the nation. Will purchase more in the future.

My first turning tools were the simple carbide tools in the five piece set which came with one handle. I had planned on just making handles for the other four. The handles I made were fine but never felt as good as the foam handle they came with. I knew I'd have to get handles for them all. While you can swap out the handle between tools, this gets old quick. I just need three more now. I highly recommend this handle for the simple turning tools or any other tools that will fit. Also, the company is great to work with.

The handle is well made and feels substantial however, the Sorby 1/2 spindle gouge I purchased to use with the handle is just a hair too large to fit. I am working on how to ream out the handle.
