The Explorer

My 9 year old daughter & I read this book together. Both of us really enjoyed it. This is the second book we’ve read by Katherine Rundell and so far we haven’t been disappointed.

Absolutely loved it.

I read this to my ten-year-old son, and loved every page. Rundell writes from a child's perspective intuitively, which gives the book a feel of extraordinary authenticity paired with wonder and excitement. The characters are thoughtfully developed, and much of the dialogue is really, really funny.

Good book for kids and adults to enjoy together. My almost 9 year old daughter was into it and I managed to not read ahead even though I was curious.

I am a Special Education teacher and used this book for my Fictional Narrative Unit with my students who are a mix of grade 4 and 5. My students have various reading levels and so of course I used audiobooks for some to follow along with. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY STUDENTS were BEGGING for more! They LOVED the book so much that they have been begging for more books from this author! Who by the way sent me a personal message for my students! So incredible! I suggested the book to the “sister” class of ours, and their class is completely in love with this story as well. Best book that I’ve read in a very long time!

My daughter is 9-years-old and hates reading. I had to lure her into reading with all kinds of rewards. She opened The Explorer and continued for 3 days in a row. When she finished half of this book, she said to me:"I think I love reading!". She started to look into dictionary for word she does not know, and popped out questions about Amazon Jungle, animal, survival, etc. I had to admit that I was overjoyed about this, and would recommend to all the parents who want to encourage reading in this special pandemic period and to drag them away from the computer.

My granddaughter couldn't put this book down and read it in 5 days.

We got this book for our 8 year old. We read it as a family and couldn't hardly put it down! I have purchased several copies for teachers gifts.
