I ordered the size 12 and here are my measurements: waist at belly button is 33 inches, hips are 42 inches and my thighs are 25 inches. I also weigh 150 lbs if that is helpful.The waist is slightly big for me, very typical for me anyway, but they have a ribbon on the inside to draw in the waist. Nice feature! The pants fit well in my hip area and my thighs which are chunky. The length is long for my 5'5" height, but the cuff can be easily folded over without taking away from the look.Two things that bother me, but they are not deal breakers is the material and a non-functional zipper pocket by the front pocket (why bother...lol). Because the pants are heavy and stiff, wearing them in the heat of a hot summer day does not seem practical. Maybe after they are washed they will have a different feel to them. Also, no belt was shipped with the pants.I'm keeping them and would recommend them if you are into hiking or outdoor life. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Get Deep Pockets Without Much Out Of Pocket Expense. *by D***M on August 31, 2018* I'm pleasantly surprised and quite impressed. These pants are very reminiscent of my circa 1995 BDU's. These are a heavyweight cotton and seem like they should hold up nicely. The fit was, in my estimation, very true to size. I'm 5'4" and 118lbs and the size 4 was perfect! The waist is a little higher than I typically like for pants, but for a functional utility pant, this is great. No worries of slippage or need for a belt. (No, they don't come with a belt. The listing specifications say the belt isn't included.) For me, they sit about 1" below the belly button. I washed these in cold water and put them on med / low in the dryer for 10 min. to get the wrinkles out. I hung them to dry the rest of the way. No ironing was necessary and the fit stayed perfect! I'm frequently working with dogs, doing outdoor things and I rarely carry a purse, so pockets are a must for me. These pants have plenty of room for all the items I can think to carry, and more! I'm thrilled to have found them and just ordered a second pair in another color.My only complaints are that the fabric does wrinkly fairly easily when sitting. Also, the yolk-like seam pictured at the base of the rear pockets does not exist on the pair shipped to me. Even still, it's a fair price for the style and function.***UPDATE***I loved them so I ordered that second pair. I ordered the same size in a different color. They came and were about 2" shorter (too short to wear) and the waist barely left me room to breathe. I had to return them. I tried a third time. The third pair wouldn't even close, but the length was okay again. The legs were WAY tight. How is this possible when I've been wearing the original pair I ordered nearly constantly! THOSE are great! So how in creation are you supposed to know what size to order if every pair varies by 2-3"!? I REALLY want another pair, so I'm trying yet again, but ordering one size up this time. In the meantime, the company keeps changing which colors and sizes have free returns, so I REFUSE to order a pair that doesn't have free returns. If only I could get a repeat of the pair I own, life would be good. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Listen to everyone's advice *by L***L on August 15, 2018* I am pleasantly surprised by these cargo pants. I purchased them in gray and royal blue, mistakenly defined as "royal" but really is dark/navy. I prefer the navy, but I am lowering my rating due to this and the difficulty understanding what size to purchase.Material is a heavier weight cotton, appropriate for all weather except summer. I am 5'4", about 155 pounds, size 10. My legs are long, 31 inches. I ordered size 12, but they arrive as "US L". The waist is snug, but I could tuck in a shirt. If you find it larger than you like, there is a tie that can be tightened by shirring the waist a bit. As cargo pants go, these are not overly baggy, nor are the legs tight. The photo makes them appear as if they have a bit of gathering, but they do not. As others state, the little zipper in the front opens, but there is no pocket. As a shorter person with long legs, the lenght is generous. I can wear with athletic shoes, boots, whatever. The waist has a button, not snap. If I ordered a 14 for a looser fit, they would be too large. The gray is dark, like a charcoal. I purchased these for travel on a plane so that I can keep essentials on me after passing through security. I am not sure that I will keep both colors, as the blue is a tiny bit looser than the gray and more compatible with my wardrobe. I am not sure that I would dry these for more than a few minutes. They seem like they may shrink so I will allow the wrinkles to fall out, then hang.In my area, cargo pants must not be stylish because they are impossible to find. When I do see them, the ankles on the pants are very narrow, a look that I hate.
