Awesome.
These are some sweet 6x9's. I purchased these as the rear speaker of my vehicle (a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer 2 dr), with the 5 1/4 inch component system ( Polk Audio DB5251 5.25-Inch 2-Way Component System (Single, Silver) ) as the front door speakers. Crutchfield SAYS these won't fit my vehicle but they screwed in fine. I figured maybe they were too deep, but that isn't the case either. The tweeters do stick out a little, though. The old stock speakers were flat across the mounting surface and I have yet to put the rear panels back in as I am in the process of doing the whole audio 9-yards with subwoofers and all, and that bit worries me. Perhaps the speaker grill of the trim panel won't fit on because the tweeter protrudes too far.. ANYWAY, I'm getting off topic. They sound great hooked straight up to my Pioneer DEH-P7200HD CD Receiver with HD Radio, OEL Display and iPod Control (I haven't hooked up my 4 channel amplifier ( Hifonics HFi55.4 HFi Series A/B Stereo Amplifier 4 x 55 @ 4 OHMS, 4 x 110 @ 2 OHMS, 2 x 220 @ 4 OHMS ) yet, and I can't WAIT to hear what they sound like given the proper power, as many say you don't scratch the surface of their performance potential straight of the head unit's preamp). The bass is pretty sweet; It goes down nice and low and gets pretty good impact. They even get quite a bit of excursion. But once again they are un-amped so I know I'm only seeing part of the picture. The mids are also pretty good, a tad muddy like previously stated and miles from being "bad", but I think the highs take the prize as far as unamplified sound goes. They go way up in the frequency range and just sound great. Oh and FYI, being that they're 3 way speakers and there are two tweeters per speaker, I'm quite positive they are brighter than the component tweeters in my front set-up. And speaking of tweeters, I do wish these incorporated the swivel tweeter design that allows you to more accurately direct the sound that are on the Infinity Reference series speakers seeing as the back speakers are mounted lower than ear level and I'm aiming for the best sound possible, but alas they've got a patent on it. Phooey. These are also a great value being some 80 odd dollars. I'm not sure that they could be beat for the money. They met and exceeded all expectations held before hearing them. I will probably leave a comment or edit my review when I finally amplify them.

Smooth upper register, incredible bass response, excellent value
I own multiple sets of polk db and infinity reference series speakers. These are tightly competing product lines both offering incredible performance and value. This is my first set of 6x9 by either brand, so I can't compare them directly, but here are my comments. These were installed into the rear deck of an older bmw and replaced 6" woofers/1" silk tweeters. They are driven by an old school 65x4 RMS clarion pro audio amp (back when clarion was better quality). I intended the polks to provide good bass to complement a set of 5.25 infinity reference components in the front. They surpassed my expectations. Pros: - Fantastic bass response. No question. I have the amplifier network boosting the rear channel by ~6db at 40hz, and many have asked if I have a subwoofer because the low-end extension is clean and can be felt through every seat in the car. Dialed in properly, these perform very well to 35hz in tightly sealed infinity baffle (trunk/cabin) setup. These can literally make my very-tightly adjusted trunk vibrate more than my 100 watt rms 8" subwoofer due to the infinite baffle setup. - Highs are clear, but have a warmer tone. - True 4 ohm speakers are easy on amps and unlikely to cause create any clipping conditions - Awesome power handling. IF YOU PAIR THESE TO A HEAD UNIT DIRECTLY, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. There is simply no way a head unit can cleanly drive these large speakers if you want to hear them as they were intended by the designer. Cons: - Simple integrated crossover does not deliver the clarity of component setups, but it does very well for coaxials - Speaker cones are quite thin and flexible, probably do not deliver as accurate of base as they could otherwise (though the bass is extremely impressive) - Mounting hardware is cheap and flimsy, Polk could have spent a few more cents on decent screws, nuts, etc. - Slightly less performance/quality for the money than other brands. Infinity give you better overall value in my opinion with their reference series.

Really loud and clear speakers but "they're are not 4ohms" they're 3-OHMS
I'm a big fan of 3-way speakers simply because I like being loud. 2way speakers are loud as well but they don't give you those higher frequencies the way 3-ways can with my experience. Plan on getting the 6.5 components so that I can mount the tweeters on my mirror panels and get the best sound. ANYWAYS yea these are amazing speakers, I got these instead of infinity because these are 4ohms and infinity is 2ohms & the way I have my setup is 2 polks in parallel for a 2 ohm loud sharing 1 channel. However these are not 4ohms each, they are 3.1ohms or 3ohms. Now this can be really good or really bad depending on the way you have your setup, like me for instance. I have a 4 channel amp 75watts @ 4ohm & 150 @ 2ohms. So my rears are connected in parallel to 1 channel and this is where it can be a problem since they're not actually 4ohms each because no I have a rating of 1.8 which isn't that bad considering that I have two 3ohms in parallel but my amp is handling it fine. I know I can easily just connect each speaker to each channel but I have bullet tweeters as well and they're using the other channels & I can't just get rid of them... The good news is that if your amp is rated at 75watts at 4ohms and 150@2ohms like mine, then you can actually get about 100watts rms @ 3ohms which would feed these speakers what they desire. :) So yea just becareful in terms of the ohm rating and your amplifier. Always know your amps & definitely have your own multimeter, they're like $10 or less and will come in handy in every single install you do.

Previously I have rated these speaker with 1 star. But now updating my review & rating with 5 start. The product is awesome. Mid, high, Low are perfect and clear & crisp with DEEP BASS. There was a wiring issue with my stereo setup and felt the speakers are not up to the mark. But now rectified the issue and speakers are booming with a blast.

Hooked to a clarion 400 watt amp, they handle it amazingly well! I have them installed on my bike and at 140kmh I can hear it clear as a bell!

Would have liked to have had proper machine screws and nuts included for mounting, otherwise decent quality and sound for the price
