Review: Great for softening areas, makes beautiful clouds - I stumbled across this Zig Fudebiyori Pigment pen in Milky White while I was looking at other Zig products, and I’m so glad I did. I don’t think many people in the coloring community even know this exists. The “milky white” name caught my eye, and that’s exactly what it is. It’s not a bright, harsh white like a Posca or gel pen. It gives this soft, sheer veil of white that’s perfect when you want gentle highlights instead of something stark. I first used it on a Bobbie Goods page to soften part of the sky, and it created the prettiest, subtle clouds. It didn’t cover the color underneath, it just toned it down in a really smooth way. Since then I’ve used it on colored pencil, alcohol marker, Posca, and even over burnished areas, and it behaves differently from anything else I own. It doesn’t scratch or skip. It glides over the surface and somehow blends and softens what’s underneath. On dark pencil it actually muted the strokes and made everything look smoother, almost like it blended the pencil for me. On Posca it even softened the paint enough to bring back some of the line art I thought I’d covered, which honestly surprised me in a good way. It’s become my “fix it” pen for anything that looks too bright or too harsh. If I want to knock something back without erasing it, this does it. If I want a soft glow or haze, this does it. If I want to lighten an area without making it look chalky, this does it. It’s one of those tools I didn’t know I needed until I used it, and now I reach for it constantly. If you like gentle highlights, soft blending, or adding a dreamy glow to your coloring pages, this pen is kind of amazing. I’m really glad I found it.
Review: These are amazing for calligraphy! Comparison between Kuretake and Tombow - Photos: Kuretake left, Tombow right. Kuretake Fude Brush Pens vs Tombow Dual Brush Pens Kuretake: I really love that the brush is firm enough to easily make thin lines and soft enough to easily make thick strokes so it’s perfect for beginners. The colors come out as excepted except orange. The orange appears to be a bit more gold. Although I haven’t had these for very long, the brushes appear to be durable with no splitting whatsoever. The brushes also have a lot of consistency between them. They all have the same amount of firmness/softness. These are small pens so they don’t make super thick strokes like Tombow. I know these are Japanese brushes, but I wish they would make special packaging in English the way other Japanese companies like Zebra do. I have other Kuretake brushes and pens and I forget the sub names of them since I can’t read what’s on the pen. Overall a great buy for calligraphy artists who want to make beautiful, elegant strokes with vibrant colors. Tombow Dual Brush Pens: While I really like these, it takes much more control to get the thin strokes, but if you’re more advanced, it won’t be a problem. I had to get a replacement because the ends of the brushes were splitting on day one of use and the consistency between brushes were off too. Some brushes were way softer while others were more firm. Some of the colors were not as expected. The red was a brownish red, light green was yellow with a hint of green in it and purple was more blue. The replacement I got two days ago from them is significantly better, more vibrant and as expected among colors except the red and light green. The red looks pink and the light green still looks yellow with a slight green hue in it. The durability is questionable as the brushes initially weren’t splitting but then started to split slightly after two days. Consistency among packages is also up in the air, some buyers had the same issues I had with both my packs while others had none. It’s luck of the draw I guess. The colors are gorgeous and with practice, I can tell the strokes will be elegant with nice, thick strokes. Between the two, I like Kuretake Fude better and highly recommend for beginners. Ps. Any skipping you see in the lettering is my own doing since I don’t have the correct pressures down yet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MY FAVORITE BRUSH PENS! GREAT FOR BEGINNERS!
*by C***E on May 22, 2019*

The brush pens are THE BOMB - especially for beginners. I'm fortunate to live very close to a craft store that has tons of brands of brush pens you can test and buy in singles. I've tried a lot (including the coveted Tombow), and these are my favorite! First, they're really easy to use for beginners (which I am). Some pens are really difficult to learn the correct pressure for the thick downstroke and thin upstroke. These seem to naturally go between thick and thin without much effort. I love all of the colors. The grey is pretty light, which is great for adding shadows/dimension to a piece. All of the colors of the rainbow are represented and really vibrant. I love these so much, I bought a second pack for a friend who's beginning to learn brush lettering. The only downside is that the downstroke isn't super thick. If you want a huge contrast between up and down, you'll need a pen with a longer nib. But if you're just learning, I haven't found any better pens. For the price they're an absolute steal!!!
