Tiptel 333 caller ID with answering machine - digital

It appears difficult to source a stand alone Telephone Answering machines now as many phones have them built in. As my phone system is fairly new and good I didn't wish to change it but my Bt machine which was getting on in years didn't appear to like the 'Sky" phone system I needed to change. Apart from a similar BT model I saw several from the US and Tiptel from Germany. The Spec from the latter suited me although it was relatively pricey. Having received it I am pleased with my choice, A slight problem was I needed to wall mount it and this is allowed for in the design but the shape is really better suited for a desktop but mounting it fairly high on the wall was ok. The system allows you to record your own message and has one built in, a female voice which is clear so I have used this. I like the feature that you can set for it to call another Phone to inform you of messages, ideal for your mobile. So far I am unable to fault this machine.

Having spent a whole two days trying to set it up - with much help from friends who are savvy with all types of contemporary electronic equipment of this kind, we still have not been able to even set it up. The on-line manual to which we were referred is not in the least helpful - its setting up instructions are useless. This item is a very expensive piece of totally worthless plastic junk. Don't touch it until there is available a simple to understand English language Users' Instructions / Operating Manual.

decent machine which allows 3 different outgoing messages to be recorded but our remote facility has stopped working. After sending it back to Germany for 'repair' it came back the same. When I got hold of an engineer at Tiptel I was told that it could be because the telephone provider has changed from analogue to VOIP technology and the machine therefore does not recognise the numbers...

This Tiptel allows 4 [I think?] different out-going messages which means you can have different out-going messages during different times of day [e.g. lunch time] without having to re-record out-going message.Sturdy construction, working well after quite a few months' constant use.

Everything it said on the box works , the manual was in German BUT the C.D had the English one on it. so not a problem.

excellent simple answermachine. perfect for small business use.
